Why order Pulled Pork when you can get Brisket (moist), Pork Ribs, Sausage, Beef Ribs, and Chicken? Their moist brisket is actually good. I think you just got a poor serving of it. Honestly, I've never tried their chicken but I definitely will next time. You sold me on the chicken. Rudy's is my favorite BBQ place near me. Too bad I don't have a Pecan Lodge or Franklin's near me.

Great videos guys love the Texas series. In Texas (Greatest State in the Union) typically you have a choice of 1,2, or 3 meat plates with 2 sides and then you have meat by the pound and sides are served in 3 or 4 sizes of Styrofoam cups. Single person buy the plate 2 or more buy it by the pound.

You should of got a small side of the cobbler it's good. Rudys is pretty good for a chain place. Also Texas as you probably notice is wide open land and huge ranches. Thus it was used for cattle raising. So beef is the thing. Down south it's more farming and hog farming so pork is the thing. Pulled pork is just not prevalent here in TX. It's kind of like saying "Hey there's Mexican food in Tex why can't I find giant mission style burritos on every street corner?" Pulled pork which I love btw is just not a part of our food heritage.

Yea, pulled pork isn't a Texas thing, really. Now, about Rudy's: Chicken's awesome. Agreed. I didn't think you'd go to Rudy's because it's now a chain. I believe some are franchises, and that would explain the different menu items in different locations (someone mentioned pulled pork at Rudy's in New Braunfels. Some are too "sterile" for my taste, like the ones I've been to in Austin, with too much stainless steel, pre-packaged sides, and no hint of the smell of smoke in the place. I like the 3 in San Antonio best, in Leon Springs, Selma (the one you went to), and Westover Hills (by Sea World). Good choice going to Rudy's, but you could've gone to more "local" places. Hope to catch you next time you're in San Antonio! PS: I love their beans too.

WTH? They throw out burnt ends? SMH that's just sinful! they are by far mine and my husbands favorite thing BBQ wise and you just can't get them where I live the people who BBQ here are bodarks. We went to a place in St. Augustine's called Mojo's and they had the best burnt ends we have ever had. The beans here looked really watery ewww.

Nice job jack, I've lived in texas for 11 years and never hit up a Rudy's now I will. You outta try waller County line BBQ just north of Houston off 290. It's a hole in the wall gas station BBQ but man they know how to do BBQ.

Ok so I want to start by saying that I love your channel and all the stuff that you do. Also, I’m a big BBQ fan and think that what you are doing with the tours is awesome! Having said that though, I gotta ask…. you have LEGENDARY places there in central Texas (Snows, Blacks, Louie Mueller’s, SaltLick, etc) and you go to a chain gas station/BBQ? I appreciated you guys starting with Pecan Lodge and Franklins but I was so excited at the announcement of this tour and am disappointed because I was expecting to see more of those kinds of places. Anyways, thanks for doing what you do and I’ll keep watching.
