If you get cabin fever, sleep in a car. You can sleep in the car and reduce cabin fever. Make a fire outside the car and it will generate heat to the car.

On my loper run, I upgraded the normal bedroll for the insulated bedroll. It is a nice balance warmer than normal, but lighter than the bear bedroll.

I agree go for the bear, but the new insulated bed rolls (when you find the normal one!) is much lighter and nearly as warm as the bear one. I'd use the hides for a coat.

It's so stupid that you can't just get car batteries out of any car hood that you can open! Some might be dud but that's a different issue.
