Watched this on my tv but had to come over to my pc to see it again to be able to use the thumbs-up. So many great ideas here! I'm not a bulk cooker…here it is just Hubby and me but I am always interested in finding new meals.

My goodness you pack a video! I have tried my best to find the teriyaki beef ramen noodles, without success, except for the expensive styles, so I'll just buy the cheap beef flavor and a bottle of teriyaki for the sauce, I guess.
I see the cheap beef ramen noodles are on sale, under 4 dollars for 12 pk. around 30 cents a pk.
I'll get one for myself and for a family with 7 children. Maybe, I'll make up a pot of that teriyaki recipe for them and myself. I've never eaten a ramen noodle in my life!

Bouillon beats purchased boxed or canned broth in my opinion. One big plus of it is if one wants something a bit more beefy or chicken-y, just add more cubes or powder. Boxed broth comes as is and if you are going to strengthen it and use bouillon, you may as well JUST use bouillon. I don't follow the one cube per cup rule, I do something like five cubes to three cups for added flavor. The price of boxed broth or canned may seem cheap but it isn't when you add up the cups needed especially if you use it for every meal calling for broth or base. Bouillon is a great starter for many things. And sometimes I just add a cube to a pasta, etc.. and don't even mix it with water, I just drop it into the cream or cheese sauce, or tomato base as the meal is cooking. I like the cubes as they are good indefinitely. Powder you do a spoonful with tends to get hard where you can hardly dig out a spoonful. Better than Bouillon is not a very economical choice in comparison either. Cubes are a pain in opening the foil on each one but worth it by far imo.

Making one's own broth is far cheaper too but of course one has to do the work and spend the time.

Rotisserie chicken all the way! Pick it and use or freeze some for later. Just, let the bones cook longer in a slow cooker. So good! Keep a bag of scrap vegetables in the freeze just for broth!

My adult daughter has found me watching Meals with Maria a few times and when she heard this one she said, "Doesn't she annoy you by always saying if you don't have …?"
I realized that I always just think of it as info for Maria's hopefully ever expanding views pool. Keep bringing us these great ideas along with the possible substitutions!

The recipes look great. I also agree you have to have a sweet treat to keep sanity. The cost of making a whole batch of choc chip cookies is still less than one concrete from the ice cream shop! I'm loving your shorts!

I've taken a 1/2 cup of buttermilk, add to regular milk, and leave on counter about 6 hours or longer. Buttermilk!
Can replace sour cream for buttermilk.
Buttermilk keeps a LONG time past best buy dates. Smell it, you'll know if it's bad! If it doesn't have that fresh smell, toss it. If it does, shake and use. I've used buttermilk 2 months past best buy. I know it sounds gross, I promise, it's good.
