That Shan butter chicken spice was worth the money. Maybe save your freezer meals for a couple weeks and try to add to them. You can have a clean out the freezer week and use more of your money to stock the pantry.

Love that you made a recipe that I suggested! Absolutely love watching your videos week after week. I showed my kids and they said "That looks like what you make Mommy!" I don't add raisins or olives due to my picky kids, but also like that the recipe makes a lot. You also pronounced my last name right. Awesome job!

You are adventurous! Good job. In the Midwest, we cook the potatoes and get them cold for a day in the fridge and then fry them up. Totally different taste to them. I think they fry better than trying to fry a fresh potato. Takes way less time, too. Have you ever tried turkey & dressing sandwiches? You just combine the two and serve it on hamburger buns. It sure makes leftover turkey go a long way!

I know U may not have these products right now but I know what it is like to cook on a budget and I swear by the 2 ingredient bagels that some call Weight watchers bagels where U just add 1 cup of Self Raising Flour and 1 cup of Greek yoghurt and mix together and roll into a 4 balls and put a hole in the middle ( like Bagels) and bake…..They taste like the real thing And Shakshuka which is just onions and herbs fried, add canned tomato and drop in 4 eggs…….It's tradtionally eaten for breakfast but in the West people eat it anytime.

You had an amazing week, it is insane how much green peppers cost. I wish I had some of your ideas 40 years ago. Someone told me they buy tomato paste and add water to make tomato sauce, the paste is so much cheaper than sauce here in the US. This is what I was finding many years ago, feast or famine, you mentioned you might not have such an exciting week coming up. Consistency is so hard. I have been watching the lady doing the $42 challenge, it is easier to get a better deal on food when you can buy family packs of product, cheaper by the pound when you can buy a whole bag of carrots, potatoes, or onions for a little more than 1 or 2 items by themselves. But I enjoy her ideas and using a couple for my husband and me. I loved watching you make your own noodles. I'm checking out that mini grinder, we are going to do some camping next year and it would be nice to have it. If I am out of garlic powder I use onion powder, so instead of garlic bread, I have onion bread. The lard will make a big difference in the tastes of your foods. I am trying to remember if it was your channel or another where the person saves the hamburger grease in a jar instead of just pouring it off like you would bacon grease. I look forward to your videos every week. Have you considered having a few things growing in small pots, chives, mint, my friend grew leaf lettuce in a tray, and just clipped leaving the roots to sprout again or sprouting your own dried beans?

Thanks for doing this experiment. My husband passed away in 2020 due to Covid. Then we went from six figures to barely surviving. Luckily me and my girls are still together and we’re figuring things out but having different ways to look at food is really great.

It always gives me a thrill when I see you make recipes from ideas we viewers have suggested, really happy for Patricia and the other subscriber who suggested the Picadillo, they both looked really nice and would love to give them a try, can just veganise the Picadillo by using brown lentils instead of the mince meat.
Was glad to see the lentil burger used up, I wondered perhaps if that was what you were going to do when I saw the burger bun that you bought. I think you had some really tasty and wholesome meals this week which I know I've said before but I think that's a common thread throughout these weeks and appreciate the consistency of that. Thanks again! 🙂

As a senior, what I appreciate the most about your meals is that they are inexpensive, varied and very healthy. All the important elements for those on fixed incomes. Thank you for posting. Also, I might be wrong, but I believe toad in the hole is sausages done in yorkshire pudding and what you made is egg in the hole. ☺

Did you know that the juice from a can of beans is called aquafaba and can be used to replace eggs in recipes? I save the juice and freeze it in ice cube trays and then move to a zip lock bag and store in the fridge for later use. You can even make mayonnaise with it as the egg.

With your eggy bread/toad in the hole centres, you could save them to use as croutons on salad or soup, or garlic bread rounds or, if feeling fancy, tiny sandwiches for a snack. With the aquafava, AKA chickpea water, you can use that to make vegan meringue or pavlova. You'll have to google or YouTube the recipe though.

Hamburger Gravy over Mashed potatoes or pierogi's
All you need is hamburger and a packet of mushroom Gravy mix. Brown the hamburger then follow the gravy packet instructions then mix in the hamburger then serve over any kind of mash potatoes or pierogi's

Everything looked yummie this week! I had some veggie lentil soup today and thought of you. 😄

Egg in bread…toad in a hole, bird in a nest…

Brown sugar…why did you opt to buy that instead of just molasses? Just curious.

Noodles…boy did those plump up!! 😀 You can fry your noodles as well. Depending on how fried you want them, you can make a topping for some kind of Asian dish with crispy noodles.

Next time you get chickpeas, save the water that you drain off the can as an egg substitute. Not sure if you can freeze it but you could look into it. I know it lasts a while in the fridge.
