I remember emptying ice trays being one of my childhood chores! I was probably well into my teens before we got a refrigerator/freezer with a built-in icemaker. However, if there is no filter on the water supply going to the icemaker, often the ice can taste really off and not be worth contaminating your drinks. I like very much that you get to control the quality of the water that goes into this maker! ENJOY!!!
I let my countertop ice maker make the ice, but I don’t leave it in. I empty it into ziplock bags and put it in the freezer. I was spending $2.00 every 5 days buying bagged ice from the grocery store, so my $100 ice maker has paid for itself a couple of times over since last year! I love it.
i have a different brand that makes larger square cubes and they are amazing machines. my only complaint is that the ice will melt if not used right away or stored in a freezer. congrats. i hope it serves you well.
Our Samsung Fridge Ice Maker doesn't work either… it's a wide spread issue, enough for a class action lawsuit… I've been looking at countertop ice makers too…
I bought this last month. So far my only complaint is how big it is. I like that I can drain and clean it unlike my old one. It's awesome they sent you one to try!
What happened to the ice maker in the bottom of your fridge? We have the same one. There are usually only two of us using it so it doesn't make it super fast but is enough for us. But when we have guests the ice doesn't last long. Something like would be nice.
Interesting. I love nugget ice, but it seems strange that there's no refrigeration to keep the ice frozen. Do you turn it off at night? It'll be interesting to see how you like it in daily use with all the kiddos using it. ❤️🥰❤️
We had GE counter top where I used to work. Everyone loved it. Alot of customers would get just a cup if ice. I think the small nugget would be nice for iced drinks and making KC in blender, since I don't have a bigger one.

I just ordered nugget ice trays for $11.99. I’m good.
My experience with the small nuggets is that they melt to fast. I have one that makes larger size nuggets and they last much longer.
i like my ice tray filled with lemon juice and water. that way i get nice square lemon ice…

That's cool does in shave ice to
It’s amazing how fast it starts producing ice. It seems well built for the cost. I think it would be worthwhile on a large family for sure.
That Ice maker looks expensive
I like the idea of using distilled water so it nice and clean

Curious about whether the ice has a "plastic" taste after the water cycles through a few times…and what is the chance of microplastics contaminants?
Have the GE Opal Nugget Ice Maker. Love it. Wish I would have gotten it a long time ago. 🧊 🧊
