Just a few ideas we used when my daughter was little. Heat up your hot thermos with boiling hot water, let sit for 10 or so minutes, poor out the water, pour in your hot soup, Mac n cheese, Ramen, leftovers, etc. Still warm at lunch and perfect for a cold day. I would even do this with hot dogs; warm up your thermos, heat the hot dog in the microwave, dump the water from the thermos, wrap the hot dog in a slightly wet paper towel, put it in the thermos. Pack up a bun, some ketchup & mustard packets, and whatever else and out the door you go. Mine is in college now…enjoy every minute!

Just be careful when it comes to packing allergy-related items because there are some schools who will send out notices in the beginning of the year stating they aren't allowed to bring things like peanut butter in their lunches at all due to making sure there are no allergy-related incidents within his class or that they aren't allowed to bring things that aren't homemade so don't be surprised if they do something like that. It's just gonna depend on the school.

Great lunch box meals. Very creative. Good idea to introduce new foods at home. You wouldn't want to pack anything that he may not eat, and maybe not eat a thing until he comes home.

I’m glad you’re being proactive and trying the boxed lunches with Winston at home first to make sure he’s good with utilizing everything needed so he’ll be ready for it when at school having lunch, kudos mom👏👏👏 Also, I think your fur-baby is precious, he doesn’t know you’re talking to a camera, he thinks you’re talking to him, he loves you. Best wishes to Winston and starting his schooling career, it’s an exciting time in his life and a big adjustment so prayers all goes well. Stay safe, sane and blessed kind soul♥️💫✨👼🏻✨💫♥️🐾🐾

I always got the hot lunches at school. I just ate it. I ate pretty much anything. Still do I guess. My mom was a single mom and didn't have time to pack lunches. Even as a kid I started supper when I got home from school. You and Winston are so lucky to be able to get him his favorites for school lunches. Hope he's excited for school. I did half days at Kindergarten and my mom was working in the kitchen of a nursing home. She would run and pick me up and I would eat whatever she and my grandma made. They were the only 2 cooks there! I watched soap operas with 3 old ladies until Mom got off work. 😊

My son just went back to school today. I asked him last week if he wanted school lunch or to bring his own. He chose to bring his own. He’s 12 & can eat a lot lol. Last week I had him make me a list of lunch items he wanted me to put into his lunch. That way I know what I’m giving him will be eaten. I’m just hoping it’s enough since he’s growing like crazy and is so used to being home where he can grab snacks if needed. Today I made a chicken wrap w/ cucumbers, tomatoes, avocados, lettuce, cheese and thousand island. Along w/ watermelon, ambrosia salads and some fruit snacks. I also gave him a Lala smoothie for nutrition break. I’m curious how it will go.

Awwww I miss the days when my kids were young and I packed themed/fun lunches 😊 Even though they are in their early twenties and late teens, I still pack lunches for them. Just without all the cute stuff 😂 Although, I can get away with putting some cute things in my daughter's lunch. And I occasionally put little notes in them too ❤️

Thanks for sharing. You might want to check to see how long he will have to eat lunch and time him at home. See how much he is actually getting ate in that time and pack a little more than that. Remember at least at first there will be less eating at lunch and more talking to all his new friends. So hopefully his school will be like my son's and they will have an afternoon snack. I loved my son's 2-4th grade teacher (we have a tiny school and she actually moved up with them, he had the same 16 kids with him too) and she let them snack anytime they wanted after lunch (they ate early 10:15), as long as it was healthy ish, no candy. Oh and I always had my son bring his trash home so I knew what he was eating, picking at, or not eating at all and just tossing. Then I was better able to pack what he would really eat. The only exception was if he opened his yogurt.
