Every minority in BFE America… my kid used to get teased for me sending sushi, tofu stir-fry, ramen, and other things now she wishes I didn't have medical problems so I could make it for her.

There’s nothing I loved more as a kid than my mom’s daal chawal. One time when I was a teen I got super painful cramps in the middle of the night and my crying woke her up. She asked if I wanted dal chawal and I said yes so she made it from scratch right there. Truly a comfort food.

I could seriously live on dal every single day. Rice most days too. My favourite is tarka dal. I still need to learn how to make it and not just buy pre made dal from shops or takeaways!

I cook much better than my mom
    Who was a WASP ngl
She was taught cooking was drudgery and a burden (feminist movement of the 70s) so we ate lots canned vegs n Hamburger Helper etc
I started baking early n then moved on to cooking
I did love her spaghetti n mtballs tho!

We eat lentils n rice 5x a week for lunch
    My kids hate it

    It’s just super cheap
I add healthy dose of animal fat or butter too so it’s satiating

We have breakfast porridge with eggs cooked in it also (oats or grits) 5x a week. Maybe that’s why. Pretty boring meals 🤷🏼‍♀️ we do have kefir each meal too

Oh Dang, I’m glad I was just waking up, because I probably would’ve cried! I took my Mother some Raw Sugar to make one of her desserts for me only 😝, since I can’t have refined sugar without consequences! I told her after I was almost finished with the whole dish, it was nice to enjoy it and not have to wait for the storm thereafter! I’m glad you’re Mom is much better and lovely of you to do that for her!!! 🧡🧡🧡
