A Walmart employee told me the same thing a while back. A lot of people don't know that the area under the bags is not weighing your groceries so you can bag it and put it in your cart as you go. This is different from how Kroger's was. You'd have to leave everything in the bags on the scale area until you were done. I didn't realize I could take my bags off before I paid at Walmart. So, he may not have meant it in a smart Alec way.

The self checkout person was trying to show me how to use the hand scanner at a local grocery store that still made me put each thing on the bagging area anyway. I said if I have to pick it up anyway I would rather just use the normal thing and he seemed irritated. You have two choices… hire more employees to check me out or leave me the heck alone. There isn’t a third option where you have a commentary about how I scan or bag. Serves him right to have to clean up the soda.
