Another lovely vlog Claire. Yes, the difference between being cheap and being frugal can sometimes be difficult to define. We have always enjoyed good quality food and I won't use a cheap alternative if it isn't to my/our taste. This is especially true for me regarding condiments and salad dressings. I know I could save money in this department but it's an area where I am willing to pay more.

I’m thoroughly enjoying your channel and thank you for explaining what ‘frugal’ means to you. I agree totally. Buy cheap, buy twice! If you have a hobby like your body boarding, I think it’s totally justifiable to invest in good safe equipment. We always save and buy quality as we don’t buy disposable things in general. My cookware is le Creuset, we have invested in 2 Instant Pots (small and large), these will last for years. We buy good musical instruments, quality clothing and good food. What we don’t do is wander around cheap shops satisfying our old habits of buying for buyings sake. Instant gratification always cost us dearly. Thanks so much for keeping frugality sensible and not making it look like ‘operation deprivation’! Keep the videos coming. Much love Jane xx

I live in the USA and was wondering if porridge is a specific type of hot cereal or a general name for all cooked cereal. What I saw looked like what we call oatmeal. We have different names for cooked cereal along with oatmeal we have cream of wheat, malt-o- meal and others.

Loved the outdoor scenery, pls take us along again on your walks. Btw we love rice porridge/ congee on rainy days. We normally have it for dinner once in a while. Freezes really well too. I make it in my rice cooker which has a Congee setting though it can be done on the stove top too.

    What an amazing breakfast!!!
Is there anywhere next to your house where water comes down where you can collect with your water collector?
I only eat porridge on a cold dreary afternoon as a comfort food🍚 I have never tried peanut butter on porridge…interesting experiment for me.💚👍💜

Hi Claire – I agree with your take on cheap vs frugal, it’s always just a waste of money buying the cheaper version, you know the saying ‘buy cheap, buy twice’ some things you can get away with cheap versions two things I don’t mind splashing out on are Bacon and shoes 😆

Hi Claire, I, for one, would like to see the Risotto in your insta pot. I have noticed that since being dryerless (since January), my power bill is down about $20/month. I think I’d rather pay the $20 and have soft towels though. (My biggest complaint about not having a dryer! )
