How do you choose a good curry paste? Should you be making your own? How do you store it? What IS a curry paste anyway? In this video I answer all of these …

Thank you for watching!
She's being too forgiving about the store-bought ones. The canned curry pastes have PRESERVATIVES added (dangerous) plus they are usually in cans which are lined with BPA (again, super dangerous). Get a good granite mortar and pestle and make yourself, 100 times better that way, and no "surprises" if you buy good ingredients. And you don't NEED all the ingredients or the EXACT peppers, just the main ingredients. Mike's Curry Love is decent (and organic) if you have to buy curry paste.
Have you used more than 1brand at a time? Like mixing
Hot Thai kitchen… That's for sure 😏🤙
I very recently found your channel, I’m very excited because My secret obsession is Thai food. But I’m extremely picky and out of 15 restaurants in neighboring cities I only like the taste from one Thai restaurant. ( Yupas, in Tempe AZ) Will you please post another video and tell us what the best yellow curry paste is for with mild spice level?
Maesri Tom Yum paste is excellent – No MSG and lower salt.
Exactly what I needed to see as I plan to soon lose my virginity with cooking with thai curry paste; Thank you soooo much! I almost bought some yesterday but was overwhelmed with the different varieties & brands at the East Asian grocery store. I see a few recommendations for Mae Ploy (including the video) so I think I will start with their yellow because I'm veg. One thing not mentioned in the vid is what is the general difference between red, yellow, green, and any other types commonly found in stores. Also for storage, whereas they are in airtight plastic bags in the store on the shelf, wouldn't that work maybe if we keep it in the fridge?
Thank u verrry much mam
I would like to suggest this great Thai mix Goya Olive oil, Black Olive and Sesame seed. It will do the body good, hey let me know what you think.
this video stressed the importance of heat (spiciness) but did not show relative spiciness of brands. Less than useful.
Awesome video with great information! thank you 🙂
Ive tried mae ploy curry paste both green and yellow and they are ridiculously salty to the point that it makes my mouth hurt. I like the thai kitchen brand which I then add a bunch of chilies to because its too mild.
I have a ? about curry paste. if i use a store bought curry powder how much do i use to get the same level of flavor as store bought curry paste.
So, how do you use it? You didn’t explain.
Making my own curry paste is the best way. I can control the saltiness, spiciness adding more or less spices
I'm allergic to shrimp so would fish paste do?
👍👍👍
You're not Asian enough for Vancouverian if you don't buy your grocery from Sunrise Market, LOL. Good thing I use the same brand as those.

Sawatdee khap Pailin! Love your show!
@4:20 "…spiCness and flavor are THAId together…" hahahaha
Mae Ploy and Maesri are my two favorite brands of curry paste, here. I find Thai Kitchen to be overrated and you pay more for the brand name than the product. I'm going to try tackling making my own even though all I have is a food processor. Guess I'll being processing the heck out of it!
The Red Cock Curry Paste is waaaay too hot for me. Any ideas what I could do? I love the taste but it's really hard to eat
