This was an enjoyable film. The cooking scenes are entertaining and the food looks very appetizing. A pretty decent story about a father accepting his daughters grow up and move on in life, although I don’t think it’s as profound in terms of dramatic storytelling that I would’ve liked it to be, also don’t think it was as comedic, but the performances are fun and they work.

Another side note, this isn’t nor does it feel like a traditional Mexican family at all. The Spanish sounded fake and this is coming from someone who is from Mexico and understands how Mexican families behave. It’s pretty obvious these were all American actors, except for Paul Rodriguez of course. But that’s not a main issue for me. I would recommend this film for any family to enjoy on a Sunday evening. 6/10

This movie was amazing and interesting. Things that I observe from this movie is that the 3 sisters are very unique from other sisters. Like I don’t get it when they breaks plates… like are they out of their minds?… because it is really unusual to break plates especially that plate’s doesn’t grow on trees. That’s a waste of money. And I got confused at some point of the movie because I thought the oldest was the mom. Also, when the movie progresses, each sisters went their separate ways. First, it was the youngest sister. Second, was the oldest. They’re really interesting people. Second is that the family had issues on their own. The dad had a hard time supporting the daughters and when one of them said they would move in with Andy, he went bunkers! and he also tried to fought Andy which was really intense. Third is that one of the daughters in Andy house adjusted his house which made him unhappy and he explains that it is hard for him to find things which one lead to an other which ends up her leaving his house. Sometimes it’s not easy being in a relationship. Lastly I like the last daughter which his dad didn’t actually leave. Instead, she came back to make food him which was really nice and can’t forget that he also said that he can taste and smell. I didn’t know he had taste and a smell problem. Overall this was an interesting and amazing movie.

I know that we’re supposed to be rooting against the friend’s mom because she’s rude but that’s crazily fucked up. And they never once shoes or even hinted at the dad and the friend having any connection just 2 and a half conversations. He only wanted to marry her so he can father that little girl which is weird in an innocent way. Idk I’m not with that. Super messed up

The father was definitely one of the strongest actors in the film. Great movie. I am probably a year older than the little girl that was in this movie. 2002 was such a long time ago I was 8 or 9 back then!

Elizabeth Peña an incredibly talented and tremendously underrated actress. Hector Elizondo a proud Basque American and the same as Peña talented underrated. Hector could play a Homocide detective opposite Richard Gere in American Gigolo and a totally amoral terror it’s in The taking of Pelham. Raquel Welch as beautiful and lovely at 62 as she was at 26. Paul Rodriguez one of the funniest humans on the planet glad to see him with a great part in a film. Paul could read the menu at IHOP for two hours it would be funnier than a film with Adam Sandler. What’s not to love about this film? Constance Marie same as Raquel Welch beautiful and lovely. Tamara Melli as Maribel the girlfriend I never had but wished I did. I only lasted two days inHigh School Chemistry Class. Perhaps if I had Elizabeth Peña as a teacher I might have lasted longer. Born and raised in southwestern Chula Vista 7 miles from the border I know Mexican cuisine. Lastly raised by a single mom from the age of 4 in 1967 my Anglo gringo dad never paid my mom Carol one penny of child support. Hector Elizondo the dad I wished I had but never did. Not just Hector in this film but in real life Tortillla Soup Tengo Hambre!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The best part of the movie was when they sat down for dinner as a family. Brings back many great memories. I could watch him cook mexican food all day. Great movie. Rachel was shocked as I'm sure most people were when they watched this. Nice twist

The younger sister is the least likable. A total nutcase lol. The way she treated and trashed her BF apartment and then continued to act like an entitled brat. The bf literally did nothing but ask her to respect his space which btw he did not invite her to live with him. I honestly know some women like this. Total nuts lol
