Which just goes to show how STUPID government mandated NFA language actually is. With semantics the product is legal anyway and the law itself has done NOTHING to curb ANY crime. It only INVENTED crime to employ a plethora of government agents.
We had a thing like that certified as a self-defence pistol in Russia – a sawn-off 12 gauge shotgun with external hammers (stupid IMO, should have had them hidden), however for "safety reasons" it got design limitations so it could fire only rubber slugs loaded in cut down casings.
I had a neighbor once who had an Ithaca that was stamped USPS . He was issued this when he was a postal delivery back when robbing the mail truck could yield cash envelopes.
I'm not rich, so I bought the Rossi Brawler a couple weeks ago for $200. Just as much fun for a fraction of the price. And, considering the price of .410 shells, that's a no-brainer.
Back in the mid 70s dad got a old hammer O shotgun the stock was rotted so cut it down to a pistol handle then the barrel cut it down to 19 inch and it was 27 inch over all he was able to shoot clays with it and it has no sights on it I may have to take that old thing out and have some fun with it someday.
My howda is black powder in 20 gauge, around 10 inch barrel and completely legal. And once loaded has about the same performance as a center fire 20 gauge. double barrel oh it looks like they showed it at the end of the video
They missed so much with this firearm. It should have removeable chokes with straight rifling like Thompson Center originally used in the 45/410 Contender. It would yield far better patterns with .410 loads with the chokes. Additionally I would like it in something chambered in something with more oomph than a 45 Colt. 45-70, 444 Marlin 460S&W or 500S&W would be great.
I know a gentleman who uses a Thomson contender in . 45/.410 for a disabled sportsman pheasant shoot that is scheduled for twice a year. Not sure if it's him or the gun, but, in the last 5-6 years for sure all he has hit is the field grasses after gravity had done it job.
I have read and collected all of the works of Jim Corbett. Who killed many man-eaters on foot. I grew up reading them. Yep the maneating leopard of rudraprayag killed over 400 people in the panar valley and others. It was realized that running a "beat" for man-eaters was useless because man-eaters were unusual in behavior and more non man-eaters were killed and the actual man-eaters not killed. Then they had to fire shikars, and cancel rewards for sportsman and recruit Jim Corbett. He didn't want to be killed by a sportsman while hunting the man-eater. So they cancelled the rewards. And he did it without reward$$$
I have one of the original T/C Contenders in 45/410. I once took it to the skeet range to try it out with both 2 1/2 and 3" number 9s and I think I broke 1 out of 25. Your mileage may vary.
it's nice and could be used self-defense, survival effectively. but the price, i can but good used pump shotgun, center fire hunting rifle, 22 lr rifle..for me i would rather have 3 possibly 4 firearms for the same price. i have to go with more bang for your bucks.papa😊
I like the Cobray side x side derringer. Very primitive and only enough metal to contain the shells. And it fits in the pocket while being lighter then bond.
A “Rough and tumble general purpose tool” for me needs more than 2 rounds. A quality revolver requires about the same skill level but is much more effective.
Actually the shotshell is way overbored by the 45 caliber bore . .040 backbore is about standard for a 12 ga . And a .020 over bore size is considered backbore for a 20 ga. So in reality this would be like firing a 3 inch 410 out of a 3 inch barrel with no choke at all with the small payload in a. 410 shotshell and no choke 15 yds will be very generous even with the 3 inch shell not to even mention the more available 2 1/2 inch shell which will be even less effective.
Hay Ron, love if you did a video on Jim Corbett, stalking and shooting man eating tigers at point blank range in the jungle. He was quite some guy from what i can gather. I believe he used Rigby rifles.
Short barrel shotguns are perfectly legal. Fill out a BATFE Form 1, and pay the $200 tax before altering the shotgun. Be sure to check local state laws first.
Ron: Very interesting video. Hickok 45 has an original Howdah pistol. Here is something I have been wondering about. The tiger was and is a magnificent game animal. So, why, in the "glory days" of the British hunters, were no tigers ever imported in to some of the African countries? Do you have any thoughts on this? Thanks, John, from Ohio.
If you just wanted it for self defense, then the Taurus Judge or Smith & Wesson Governor would be better. But there is the cool factor. Then again if I had tigers in my backyard I think I would take 6 shots over 2.
"sawed off" shotguns are legal, with an NFA license… however you don't even need that for a shotgun-type-firearm built originally as a pistol-style form factor, as long as the overall length is at least 26 inches and it was originally built that way. That's just a "firearm."

Hey Ron. How about taking a walk down memory lane and talk about the 270 Redding? I would love to hear about it!

They should be able to handle 454 Cassell and be good for bear country
I think I would prefer the Howda to a Shockwave. Thanks for the video.

Do they have that in .45-70 Govt.?
snake chamer 410 pistol was smooth bore many pepole have them sold as long gun
I was intrigued until I saw the $1600 price. It'd be much cheaper to find an old double barrel and pay the $200 tax stamp.
Easy too hit your target, ron you make it seem different
Looked like 419 shotgun shells to me.
Think I'd go for 12 gauge to save my LIFE.

Wonder why they didn't chamber this for a 45-70?

sounds like a chopper read special
Here in Oklahoma we are able to hunt whitetail with it. As long as we use the 45 colt round or the 410 rifled slug.

Need a .410/ .454 Casull version.
Ron, their was a YouTuber that was Phesant hunting with a Taurus long barrel Circuit Judge with th3 3” 410. He did ok.👍🙏🏽🇺🇸✌🏻
With the .45 blackpowder magnum (a longer .45 colt) you have options that can handle medium game.

I have a rossi ranchhand. Wish it would do both but it is chambered in the 45 LC

That pistol would challenging and a lot of fun for hunting rabbits and quail.
Can you IMAGINE THAT as a defensive “truck gun”…using EITHER the .45’s OR the .410 shotshells?! Whoooo..
Do a video on 7.62x54r
Ron, never never post the question " is this legal" .
Do Not Give The Commiecrates any ideas.
I watch your show a little bit good content. But I was curious do you know what one of those costs they’re about $1700 I don’t find much value in that

That would work badass on a covey of quail that jumped right at your feet!
