    So many people watch episodes of cooking videos like this and worry if they can’t get the same ingredients as are being used. You showing substations and shortcuts, along with confident ‘don’t worry about it’ comments are very refreshing and reassuring.

    Just made this dish the other day but with thickening in it because I like more of a stew than a soup. Added in edamame. It was delish! Yours looks good with that egg. I should have done that!

    As usual, everything looks delicious! Claire's expression when she's eating the soft boiled egg is priceless – you can tell she's enjoying it so much. Also, I know this is kind of random, but I appreciate the fact that you include a little spot at the end to show her washing the dishes. It feels like a respectful acknowledgment of her contribution in that regard.

    To anyone curious about the snack boxes, my brothers and I purchased a gift subscription to Sakuraco for my dad for Father's Day. His parents were American, but he was born in Japan and spent part of his childhood there, and he's always had a special fondness for the country, and he retained a taste for their cuisine. He REALLY enjoyed everything included in the boxes – the food, the booklet on the makers and local culture, and the collectible dish. The quality is excellent.     I have been converting so many of your recipes and techniques to vegan (don't hate me!) and your curry base is MONEY. There are so many things to substitute for similar flavors, and I make my own Worcestershire sauce! Thank you as always for your culinary skills and creative and entertaining videos. And if it's really Claire's birthday (the soft-boiled egg?) Then happy birthday to you!
