Thank you so much for the good memories. This was at every family get-together, holiday meal, church function, etc. I still love it but I haven't made it in a while. Now I'm thinking I'll make it for Christmas.

Mom makes it during Thanksgiving and Christmas. She adds everything except the coconut flakes. I may add them when I make my own. She calls it Water Gate Scandal. Actually I usually ate the Maraschino cherries off of my father's cherry cream pie. I'd tell my parents that they were calling me. Homemade desserts dwindled down after he died in February 1996. Dad was the baker in the family. When I make it now I eliminate the excess sugar in the middle part and top it with apples or strawberries since Lee's and my son Daniel doesn't like cherries.

Hey Chef J blessings to you. This dessert looks amazing and I will be trying it! Tfs💕Yes I do like cool whip rite from the bowl. I stand rite at the freezer door with my spoon. It's so true but folks won't admit it lol. The salad is beautiful and I'm adding to my playlist of course. Take care my favorite Chef 💖

You mentioned Lubbys Cafeteria. My Mom and her Mom and all 8 sisters ate there once a week for many years in West Tx. Lubbock to be precise. Momm and all are sisters are living in Heaven now and Lubbys is no longer. I dint even know if I am spelling Lubbys correctly but you brought back find memories when you mentioned it❤️🌲❤️🌲❤️

My favorite Aunt made this at holiday get togethers and I remember we called it the green fluff. I always loved that stuff and still do! Your right about the cool whip. I remember sneaking out of bed and eating that stuff like that when I was a kid🤣. This brings back some good memories.

My husband’s mom made this every year, or one of her sisters would make it. I miss them. And the Cool Whip… Nooo, you got to dip Chips Ahoy cookies in that tub😋. Dangerous snack.
