I personally find super attentive service like that uncomfortable & draining. I do get how it feels nice sometimes but I would definitely not want that every time I go out
This is me— not with food, but with music teachers. If I find a music teacher who’s “too nice” I instantly grow suspicious or don’t like them bc I’m so used to having really mean instructors, but that’s also how I know my group is going to perform amazingly. With a nice teacher, I’m not so sure of our success 😭
This sounds like when black people go to any Caribbean restaurant but most notably, a Jamaican restaurant. If they’re rude and don’t have half the menu available. You know your in the right spot lol Same for Dominican restaurants. If they yelling at the customers. You can go ahead and take a seat 😂
Yeah if you don't leave without some verbal abuse and a new insecurity did you even have a good time? In my home country the servers are actually very polite and even speak to you about like whatever! It's common for you and like a group of 7 to come in sit down and like chat over drinks for hours ( this is like a restaurant but a lot of people go there to hang out and just like get a lemonade and talk outside. It's a daily thing and part of social custom) so it's normal the server just kinda becomes your friend! Conversely if you visit a restaurant in the countryside or like a friend's house the person cooking the food (especially if she's old) can be so rude but her food can make your soul ascend to heaven. Especially in family restaurants outside of the city the head cook or person in charge is very loud to the other staff but it's not really a bad thing? It's also part of the culture! Like no one takes much seriously unless you like disrespect an elder or god pretty much. But even then it's chill if you just laugh while saying it. But I stg mean grandma food is too tier. If a server is that mean at a city restaurant? Food is trash 100% they have no earned the right to be mean.
Her commentary about the mean aunties vs the nice waitstaff made me think of Ali Wong’s comedy bit about her husband taking her to an “authentic” Vietnamese restaurant (link of the bit: https://youtube.com/shorts/dGOIy1zPFOo?feature=share)
I’ll have to say tho, the part that fit best with what was said in this short was afterwards when Ali said: “And the wait staff here is too nice. We need to leave this restaurant deaf and emotionally abused.” 😂😭 facts
Honestly I think customer service is overrated. I mean obviously don't be a dick, but the amount of emotional labor they have to put in just for more money? Ew. I don't want my servers feeling like they have to smile if they don't want to.
Best Chinese restaurant I’ve had food from, as close to authentic Chinese as you can get outside of China had the best reviews, BUT everyone complained about the same thing and it was the customer service. Customer service wasn’t just bad, they were RUDE. I called on the phone prior to ordering anything to ask an innocent question that I thought they might find wildly annoying if they’re a legit Chinese place, but it’s still ok to ask. I asked “do you guys have chicken noodle soup?” and the lady on the phone replied with “No, but you’re free to call other Chinese places, specially the ones with no tables or chairs, and they most likely will have the food you’re looking for”. Did she have to respond that way? No, she could’ve been nicer about it. Did I still order anyway? Absolutely and the food was delicious
I think black folks feel the same way about jamaican restaurants and the local cheese steak spot. Service and great food don't usually go hand-in-hand.
It's like that in Germany too! The waiters aren't always kind to you, because they're not paid to be. I found that dragging my German cousin around everywhere gets them to be kinder to us though, because he always knows the right things to say to them (usually by making fun of me for being American 🥲). But whether they're kind or not has no effect on the service they provide.

Looks fabulous

Is 10 pounds a lot? Lol I’ve lost 20 (255-234) and I can’t see a difference at all lol

SOY SAUCE AND SESAME OIL DO GO WELL TOGETHER
I PUT THOSE IN RICE AND EAT IT AS A SNACK
What? I always mix soy sauce and sesame oil D:
What’s the name of the restaurant???
that's interesting, I lived in Korea and actually found the service really good
I don’t trust any restaurant that doesn’t have an old lady telling me what food I want to eat instead of what I came to order.
You never been to a Jamaican restaurant then 😂🤣🤣🤣
The food looks delicious 😋 😍. You look amazing and deserve good service.
i'd rather have good food than good service

THAT’S CHEF RENATTA🎉
soy sauce and sesame oil is one of the best combinations, though
The loop 👌 absolutely perfect
so fussy
Why does it feel like us POC have the same dining experiences? And why are all our aunties mean at the restaurant? 😂
Am I the only one wondering why soy sauce and sesame oil don’t mix? 👀

stop asian hate
Is this just an ethic thing? Go to a Nigerian or Jamaican spot and the ruder they are the better the food.
Dooby I love u and all, but please fix the bangs.

‘Mean Aunties that ignore you’ – The Jamaicans of Asia 😂

Must be authentic 😫💀
Korean food made by wypipo?🤨
Same with Jamaican food and service. The worse the services the better the food
Must be authentic 🤣
captured so beautifully
Resturant name?
This seems like yeo jingoo's restaurant from link:eat love kill lol.
