Further to your point about Italian-Americans… I first saw GF1 and GF2 in chronological order on TV (I think it was NBC). And they were so afraid of getting complaints that they had Francis make an introduction that the film does not mean to paint all Italian-Americans as mobsters. They showed the whole thing over three or four nights, and apparently, no complaints form the public. See this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZmzX4RM-SQ

That bit about the look you give when ordering a Diet Coke and the waiter asks if Pepsi Max is okay was hilarious. I don't think I've even heard of Pepsi Max! Is that even a diet soda? Great review!

I’ll never understand the appeal of this movie. It glorifies a bunch of absolutely horrendous human beings who are really uninteresting people to boot. So yes people can be garbage. But it takes a special category of human trash to behave the way these people do. There is no redeeming oneself. It’s true they could be worse: they could be mass murderers but no they’re just murderers and traffickers.

Stam Fine as always (using an American term) hits another out of the park! Informative, succinct, & absolutely hysterical. (Spoilers) Happy Days, HD-DVD, Finatra, I'm Moe Greene, well done sir well done.

To me the most frightening and chilling aspect of "The Godfather " is the transformation of Michael Corleone ; who starts off wanting nothing to do with " the family business" and ends up a ruthless killer.I have seen the movie many times : at the cinema , DVD , IFE on an overseas plane and a " concert version " where The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra played the music while the movie was screened .

Hand up – never seen it – the romanticising nostalgia for organised crime has never been appealing.
I sat through Scarface when it came out and found it a distasteful experience made more so by people who still think Pacino's character is a hero.

The Godfather is a great movie and it's never quite what you'll expect it to be, a perfect fit for a Stam Fine aside like getting a pair of socks for Christmas that matches the underwear you're wearing… but why aren't you wearing pants as well?
