    I wouldn’t say it’s mochi inspired if it’s not glutinous rice. There’s fried rice cake that is made with non glutinous rice but mochi is always made with glutinous rice

    My go to sauce for this is a soysauce water mix with garlic, ginger, sambal olek and a little bit of sugar. I mix in a litte cornstarch so it forms a nice glossy sauce.
    With that i also toss in chinese cabbage with it and its amazing

    There’s a ton of rice recipes that involves using cooked rice, like goheimochi. I can imagine a Japanese family making this kind of version, maybe like their own family recipe. Nice way to use leftover rice!
