When I was a child, the kids would be in the yard playing football and running around. Mom's in the kitchen along with the aunties and Grandma cooking; Dad and the uncles are in the living room watching the football games. Then dinner, everyone would gather around the table and say what they're grateful for. THEN, it's chow down time!! 😋😋

I'M AN AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMAN BORN IN THE STATE OF TEXAS; WE HAVE ALWAYS CALLED IT DRESSING! OVER THE YEARS, THERE HAVE BEEN DIFFERENT VARIATIONS.

THE NEW ORLEANS BRANCH OF THE FAMILY ADDS OYSTERS WHILE THE TEXAS BRANCH DOES NOT!!

THE TEXAS BRANCH COOKS IT SEPARATE FROM THE TURKEY! IT IS NEVER, NEVER, NEVER STUFFED INSIDE OF THE BIRD!! 😮😮

I'm in the states (northern Maine on the border with Canada) and out family has taken to celebrating Thanksgiving during the Canadian Thanksgiving. There is still color out in the trees and no worries about snow or ice for those that have to travel and the temperatures are still fairly nice. By the end of Nov; the weather can be so iffy for driving; snow can be clashing with my pumpkin decor :{ So happy to have switched! What my grown kids do is have our family Tday now and make a Friendsgiving in Nov. so smart.

Every year I want to freeze the dishes ahead of time but now my oldest does the meal but i do our traditional family stuffing. Our stuffing was made by my Italian grandmother with an Italian twist and was always stuffed in the bird. Since I’m a bit older it will be easier for me to do ahead of time. It’s called stuffing in my area, I believe it’s dressing in the South. We do football and there are big parades in some major cities, including Philadelphia near where I live and of course, shopping. Nowadays, Black Friday is done more online and I see they are even moving it up more every year. Crazy. You did a good job on the Green Bean casserole. My youngest daughter introduced us to the dish a number of years ago. I hate it and wonder where it came from and why is it so popular. Found it’s way to Canada too. Our creamed corn is usually crushed up and smooth, a throwback to the Native Americans. Until the internet, I did not know about Canadian Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving, Canada.

We have never played or watched football in my family. However, when we went to my dad's family-my uncles and grandpa would watch football, the cousins were all within 16 months in age so we would go out and play on their 52 acres in Central FL , often in shorts and t-shirts. The older women would be in the kitchen cooking. In my family, stuffing was "stuffed" into the bird and the dressing was placed in a bowl on the table as a "dressing"
