If anyone is new to the instant pot…..you can put a couple of paper towels over the release steam button and let them catch all the moisture. That is what I do rather.

Phyllis, I mentioned the Instant Pot on another thread from one of your videos. I just can't keep thinking about that item. I have an old pressure cooker, but it have to wrestle a lot with keeping it going. The ring that keeps the pressure in around the edge of the lid has to be taken out & cleaned & oiled every time I use it anymore. It never seemed to take that much attention before. Would you give me some more information on this item? What all does it do? Has it ever given you any trouble? How about that rubber gasket I'm talking about? Is the one on the Instant Pot the same? Any details you could share about your experience with this item would be appreciated.

I know the last time I mentioned this item, I was praising you for not trying to "sell" things on your videos. Now, I really want to know the facts, & I respect your opinion. Thanks, Lynda

Phyllis, love your show!! I have been using the Instant Pot for about 2 years and have always had great results. Yes you can use regular pressure cook in recipes but the timing might be different, I err on less time then I can add more time if needed. One suggestion that works for me, don't store the Instant Pot with the lid on, just turn the lid over and store that way. Storing with the lid on compresses the gasket and may not give you a tight seal. The life of the gasket maybe shortened as well.

My Instant Pot arrived a couple hours ago. I was trying to watch all your Instant Pot videos today, as it was supposed to arrive tomorrow. Now I can't decide if I want to cook in it tonight. I'm slow, so I probably wouldn't eat until midnight. I haven't had anything to eat all day, so it might be worth it.

I was working on giving my stove and oven a deep cleaning this week since I didn't cook anything for Thanksgiving. I planned my whole grocery list on the Instant Pot, so didn't want to throw a big Thanksgiving meal in the middle of it, just for me. I also ordered some Pyrex dishes with lids, to store the leftovers in, but they won't arrive until Monday. Unless I get lucky and they get here early like my Instant Pot did, it would really be great.

I have to admit I'm a bit overwhelmed by the Instant Pot. Mostly the cooking times have me confused. That has dampened my excitement a bit, but not so much that I'm not motivated to start cooking with it. I will have to play with putting the lid on, that seemed to be a bit quirky to do in your videos. It seems you don't like to brown in the Instant Pot on the saute mode. Do you have a reason you don't like the way it browns?

I'm planning to cook a whole chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, and greens with bacon in my Instant Pot for the first meal. I suppose I should wait for tomorrow to do it. The oven will be kept busy because I'll make cornbread. Hopefully won't be all out of energy Sunday when I want to make a sweet potato cheesecake.

Phyllis, what size is your pot? My husband passed away a few years ago and the kids are grown. It's just me now and I don't need a big pot but one that will still big enough to do those great looking ribs.

Ohhh, I love my Instant Pot !!! I chose this brand after much research because of the stainless steel interior pot. You have the updated version, with the lid holder on top and [hopefully] the yogurt maker setting. I guess you figured it out, but if you want to change the time or temp, you have to do it before it beeps, at the beginning. The temp is changed with your Adjust button. Also, the time given in a recipe, for anything, factors in the building up of pressure and the cooling down naturally time. The meat continues to cook after it shuts off if you let the pressure cool down on its own.

Your dinner looks delish! I'm ready for spring and summer meals. :o)  I'll have to see if I can find that bbq sauce, but I don't think they sell it here. I have one of those type of pots. My mom bought it from QVC, but I haven't used it yet. I guess I felt intimidated by it and it's only my son and me. But now that I saw you use it, I just might give mine a go. :o)

Hi Phyllis!  Your ribs look awesome, I will definitely try this recipe, I have seen demos of the instant pot and I will buy one for sure.  But just FYI I found some wonderful ribs at Sam's, they are Tony Roma's hardwood slow smoked boneless cut pork ribs, he also carries the short ribs with the bone.  The cut pork ribs come in a black plastic container.  They are fully cooked and  can be prepared in the oven for 15 min. or in the microwave.  They are delicious, large,  lots of meat and very tender.  The short ribs are good also.  We basted on top with a little of our favorite barbeque sauce, but they do have sauce on them too.  You could probably prepare them in the instant pot, or we are going to try them on the grill in the future.  Thanks for the vid… <3+
