I tried this but the skins did not come off in two whole pieces. Had to peel them off in sections. Still faster than the old way but I wish I could make this work just like in the video.
Thanks for the very useful video! I bought some potatoes today and i wanna peel them but i’m such a loser with knives. This trick helps a lottt and i’m so happy 💋
I can't remember the last time I peeled a potato. What I normally do is buy potatoes from the supermarket wash them in cold water and cook them job done. If it's jacket potatoes they are already wash so I put them straight in the oven, job done.
I cut potatoes into pieces, and boil them. When they’re done, I put them through the ricer. The ricer squashes the potato and leaves the peel behind! I have always loved my potato ricer. I wouldn't be without one! I have one that's almost 200 years old! LOL. It's been through 3 generations! I tried your method and the peels kept breaking, not coming off in a large piece , AND the potatoes weren't cooked through. I was very disappointed. I was hoping to use this when making my potatoes for potato salad. More work than it appears to be. Maybe I need to buy a different type of potato.
Super cool mthod!!

Does this work for sweet potatoes?

I think it consumes more time then simply peeling off with a peeler. 🙂

Great idea! Cook how long? Are the potatoes fully cooked or basically blanched once the process is completed?
Useful trick! Thank you!

And if you don't want boiled potatoes??
I tried this just now with Idaho potatoes. Turns out they're too soft. I'll bet it will work well with Russets.
