I like Stanley as an actor. But you never add oil to pasta while it boils and you gotta love how he says he's gonna cut the garlic thinly and then proceeds to do anything but. Holy shit, the more I watch it gets worse. Changing temperature, adding oil, adding garlic. Tell me you don't know how to cook without saying you don't know how to cook.

That’s been a staple pasta dish in my family for generations. My grandmother added sautéed onions to the garlic. I guess that’s how they made it in her town in Italy. Love this dish.

No Italian, nor anyone who knows about cooking Italian food would ever put oil in the watewr. NEVER! NEVER, EVER!!! EVER! stopped watching after this and figured….he's American. He doesn't know what he's doing. Ciao Tucci!

One of my favorite Stanley Tucci movies was Big Night with Tony Shaloub. When describing the Americanized Italian food at the competing restaurant down the street, Secondo (Shaloub) gets so worked up and shouts, " Rape…of cuisine!". The way he said it was hilarious.

I'm Italian (not Italian-American: 100% from Italy). Please, please, PLEASE do not add oil to the boiling water. The pasta won't stick, unless you use very shitty pasta and/or overcook it… And do not add oil to the strained pasta either… Instead, fish out the spaghetti from the boiling water and add them directly to the pan: they will bring some pasta water along, enough to thicken the "sauce".

i love the guy. but this is really an aweful receipe for aglio e olio. its just not the way to do it. like at all. italian nonnas go: WTF. you need to make an emulsion with the pasta water before you add the pasta water before you add the pasta etc.

Sorry Stanley not impressed. Must have chopped parsley, a tab a butter to bring it altogether and MOST DEFINITELY use copious amounts of fresh grated Parmigiano Reggiano!!! I know its a peasants dish but don't be ridiculous. PS you can never put in too much garlic!!

Never put the oil in the boiling water just in the saucepan.
Cook the spagetti for 4-5 min only then put it in the saucepan, there should be already the garlic, oil and the chili . The oil shoul be hot but be carefull not to burn the garlic if you do its over.
After you put the spagetti in the saucepan add some water ( has to be the same were the spagetti was boiled in, and remenber this water has already salt in it no need to had salt). Cook it al dente and enjoy.

Ah, Mr Tucci ! You don't have to be in a movie to get our attention. We'll even watch you cooking the family meal ! Thank you, sir. It's an honor to be one of your subscribers ! Your last TV series which was shown in Australia was glorious , by the way.

Please remember as you cook; any pot you use can be too small but it can never be too big. Also. Save the pasta water for your next attempt at getting yeast for baking bread
