Yes you should make room for an instapot. Beans are the reason i say yes. I love the taste of all beans made in the instapot. Even lentils and brown rice have amazing flavour and texture. Actually most grains and beans are amazing cooked in the instapot. My instapot also does slow cooking as well. I prefer cooking meat ontop of the stove or on BBQ. Cheap meats in the slow cooker. My favorite meat to cook in the instapot are ribs…..ohhhhh yummy ribs.
Not for me. You can pop a cast iron casserole in the oven and get the same result. Or use it stove top. But I'm a total cookery snob. Until I see the YouTube on how Gordon Ramsay uses his slow cooker I'm sticking to what I learned in cooking school
Can you use a liner in the InstaPot for easy clean?

Senior cook: Thanks for clarifying WHICH instant pot to invest in. I've gone through 5 crock pots , then switched to a 6qt instantpot, which is too small. At my age, cleaning up is an issue. This MAY SOLVE MY PROBLEMS.
You can reliably get a slow cooker for $3 from Goodwill or a garage sale, though, and are a little bit easier to recycle the constituent parts than an Instant Pot.
Has anyone found that your slow cooker recipes come out ok/same when slow cooked with the IP?
Honestly, I love them both. Originally, I gave away my slow cooker but rescued one from a friend. Sometimes, I want that granny's cooking smell but other times I want the quickness of the instant Pot
I have a 6 & an 8qt Instant Pot Ultra & use them both frequently but never as a slow cooker.
The speed and convenience are great but the depth of flavor & tenderness of meat is what makes them indispensable.
BTW. I didn't have the gasket set right on one of my pots & shorted it out. It was my fault & it was out of warranty by a couple months & again it was my mistake. I contacted the company to see if it had a reset or fuse that could be replaced. They were very helpful and offered me a new pot (only the pot, I kept my lid, stainless steel insert & rack) for a greatly reduced price.

I have an Instant Pot but am disappointed with the slow cooker feature. I made spaghetti sauce (Bolonese sauce) for a dinner get together and had to reheat it on the stove. Very disappointing. Now I am considering a slow cooker. It would seem strange to get another instant pot.

I bought the Duo Evo Plus 6qt Instant Pot about 6 months ago. I love it. It has replaced an old rice cooker and stove top pressure cooker. It is a wonderful tool that was worth the price. Thank you for this video. (We still have a slow cooker for what you mentioned in the video.)

You don't need a slow cooker and if you're not in a hurry then you don't need a pressure cooker as well.
If you're from the U.S or have extra money laying around just buy it and that's it but most houses have an oven.
a slow cooker is basically an oven cooking at 107c/225f for a few hours. get a good oven pot, put in some grains and a cut of meat that has lots of fiber in it and cook for a few hours. the slow cooking slowing melts those fibers resulting in tender meat and the grains absorbers the juices from the meat resulting in a unique and tasty dish
and if you're not in a hurry and can plan ahead then you can skimp on a pressure cooker and stay with the basics: an oven and a good oven pot
My Digital Pressure Cooker (not an actual Instant Pot brand) almost saved my life….. After years of "disordered eating" (can't really label it further, but I was down to eating one take-out meal a week, with mainly snack food and supplements on a daily basis), I am now eating healthily for probably the first time in my life. Every single thing that I eat is healthy and of course cooked in a healthy manner – be it a chunky vegetable soup, risotto, steamed vegetables, bolognese or carbonara (just resting the pasta on top cooks it nicely), curries and a few of my own concocted recipes. I have used it daily for two years now, and finally, just yesterday gave my little-used slow cooker to a elderly man who was unable to go out due to a recent leg amputation and had put out a request on facebook.

Has anyone noticed the meat in the instant pot is grayish? Yuk! Timing, color, tenderness, it's all got to be there or forget it. Unfortunately, this means browning or prepping on the stove and transferring to the cooktop or slow cooker. I'll slow cook in my crock pot or slow cook in my oven. The aroma is heavenly. It's worth it.
I LOVE my instant pot ultra. Was given to me and I didn't really want it as I have a huge array of cooking gear. But I use it at least twice a week. Rice is fool proof

If you don't have either one, this is a good video of which one to choose. If you have something that works well for you, is it ecologically good reasoning to replace it with something else. I wonder about replacing anything that works. Maybe a new appliance or air conditioner will use less energy but what about the energy and natural resources needed to produce the new items? I have 2 crockpots– medium size and large size, 2 stovetop pressure cookers, a rice cooker, and an electric kettle/multi-cooker. I think I would like an Instant-Pot, but I keep thinking in my case, it would be wasteful to buy something to replace still good things. Anyone have thoughts on this?
I am a slow cooker but a fast learner
The real challenge is chilli. Chilli from a slow cooker still needs a day or two in the refrigerator for everything to come together according to my taste buds. Everyone makes chilli, not sure how many people make shredded pork. You can also make pressure cooking chilli. One of the things I've noticed with pressure cooker chilli is they tend to use far more ingredients than slow cooker chilli, probably because the flavors do not have time to come together? I don't know, something to consider.
I kept my slow cooker just for pork and beef roasts. I think they just get more tender and taste better. I tried the slow cooking option on the Instant Pot and it didn’t work out well. I had raw spots in my pork roast.
I have a slow cooker/crock pot. I have a pressure cooker – the kind that plugs in, has a removable cooking pot, and has the dial timer. It's a large one by Wolfgang Puck. Got it about 7 years ago. When it finishes it has a "stay warm" function. I use it often. And I have a rice cooker, which is a little smaller. Why do I need an "instant pot"?
I don’t understand the big deal with instant pots. They have a big learning curve, just for the buttons and yes they cook faster, but when you add the warm up time of up to 45 minutes I just don’t see the advantage. Canning would be the only reason I’d have one. I actually have one – it’s very dusty
I’ve got an amazing 30 yr old pressure cooker and a perfect 15 yr old slow cooker, use then both! As long as they’re still working, I’m set. 🙂

Two things you didn't mention about the Instant Pot. I have the same model btw and love it. First, you can hook the lid in one of the slots provided when you remove it. I noticed you went looking for a place to put it down. No need. And second, you didn't discuss the gasket in the lid. I find it retains the smell of whatever I cook. I am experimenting with soaking the ring in a large fry pan with water and a touch of bleach. It's probably not a sustainable approach as it likely weakens the gasket, but I'm uncomfortable with a tool that retains the juices of pork, etc. Seems unsafe. Thoughts?
The instapot does everything a slow cooker does and so much more what a stupid question
Sorry, I'm not convinced. All the deciding features of the winning slow cooker, namely the oval shape, glass top, ease of use and heat dispersion are not there with the instant cooker.
I remember when the whole family got food poisoning from a slow cooker.
One observation, when using a slow cooker I can use Crock pot bags with very little clean up. Seems like with insta pot, clean up is definitely a chore. So cooking all day with little clean up I want to be sold but not sold yet.
I made the mistake of getting an 8 qt instant pot. We're a family of 3, husband, my son & myself. But the 8 qt was on sale & I thought if the 6qt is good, then the 8qt must be better! Right? WRONG! It's HUGE! It's a monster on my counter, & it does NOT fit in ANY cabinet. So it's storedin the basement. Which means, I rarely lug it upstairs to use it. I won't lug it upstairs to cook rice when I could just put a pot on the stove & add water. Same thing with hard boiled eggs, unless making 2 dozen deviled eggs for a party. I used it a Christmas for mashed potatoes, before that I used it once in October for chili. That's it. I think if I'd gotten the 6 qt IP I'd be using it more.

Why would you want your house, furniture, clothes, coats and bed to smell like onions and garlic?
We have both, I prefer a slow cooker. Meat comes out with more flavor. Hubby loves the instant pot and I would rather throw it out.
No way I'm giving up my Kitchenaid slow cooker.

Slow cookers use to much eclectic, can't see cooking something for 4, 5, 6 hours. Just got an 8 qt. and it cooks everything Fast. I got the Duo Air Fryer, it makes every thing, I bet you can't air fry Chicken wings or onion rings in a crock pot…………lol !

I use the instant pot but the wife won't use it preferring the slow cooker. Which means I'm eating while she's still cooking….lol
