I have an Instant pot, and so since I have limited counter space, my sister, who also has an Instant pot, recommended the air fryer lid, and I absolutely love it. Not only does it do all the things you mentioned, but it dehydrates as well. I'm totally blind, so appliances with touch screens don't work for me, but on this, not only are the buttons raised for tactile identification, but it's very accessible and easy to set. If I were to have an airfryer like one of the ones shown, it would have to have a companion app, or it would have to talk. Is there such an animal out there?

I dont know if the people that buy these air fryers, just like buying "kitchen gadgets" or do they just not realize that all an "air fryer" is, is just a confection oven. Which now days most people already have with their own, regular kitchen oven. its an oven with a fan inside it that blows around hot air to cook with, and makes things crispy, and a lot of times bakes faster. Thats it, thats all it is. LOL….

I have the Breville and I love it for most baking, & toasting applications. I bought the smaller Emeril toaster oven for my camper and NO comparison in air frying. The Emeril has more air circulation and does a much better job in air frying. Plus it has a rotisserie that works great. If it were just a little larger I would replace my Breville.

I wish you'd have shown what products you tested against. I'm interested in the Anova oven. It's kind of spendy but the steam part for baking bread seems like a great addition. Definitely not your best review.

I live alone in a single room apartment. I would love to have a traditional air fryer and an oven, IF I have the space. So instead, I bought an air-fryer-oven to save space. The foods might not be a Michelin star restaurant level but it's good enough for me. You gain some, you lose some.

A big con to the Instant Air Fryer is that it doesn't have the inner basket that you can remove separately. While it may be easier to clean, you can't just dump the food out. Any grease that collects underneath that tray will get dumped out, too, along with the hot tray. I have an older model air fryer with a basket and I love to cook bacon in it. It collects all the nice bacon grease underneath and once I remove the basket with the bacon, I pour that grease into a jar to use in other recipes. Small foods like French fries are a pain to remove with tongs–I like to dump them into a serving basket and get them to the table quickly. My range actually has an Air Fry mode but I prefer using the countertop one.

What's the point? If we already have a convection oven, all we need is to place the food on an elevated rack over a pan and it's the same thing as an "air fryer" which really is nothing but a small, dedicated convection oven. They take up too much room on the counter also.

I have the Instant Vortex shelf style air fryer. I use it daily but I have a love/hate relationship with it. I get great results with it and I don’t have the clean up issues you talk about BUT the touch screen controls are a pain!

Air fryers generally have the element and fan blowing strong down on and around the food. Convection oven has a fan in the back that circulates the hot air in the oven cavity. Y'all confirmed what I expected. The oven style is really a convection oven and not an Air Fryer. It is slower to come up to temp and takes longer to cook.

Our oven went out and can’t get the replacement until January, so we purchased an Oster oven/air fryer from Costco, paid $149. Its larger than any of the others we found, which was a big deal for us, and we are loving it!

I have a Breville, before they made toaster ovens. I love it. We use it more than the stove oven, especially in the summer time as it gets very hot in So. Florida
You cannot go wrong with a Breville appliance.
