Ziploc is not safe to boil water in…Polyethylene plastic, which is typically used to make these bags, will start to soften at about 195 degrees Fahrenheit (90.6 degrees Celsius). If you put them in boiling water (around 212 degrees F or 100 degrees C), they will melt.

What did you put in your beans? They look fantastic! I opened a can of Goya pink beans and they had olive oil, culantro (similar to Cilantro) and onion in them. I heated them in the microwave then used my emulsifier to turn them into refried beans. I heated some tortillas on a cast iron flat pan like you have added the beans a little grated cheese and a little salsa! It was super yummy! I love Goya products but they don't have them at the local store!

I have always been a prepper of sorts. I grew up with a month to month budget. My parents didn't qualify for help so our grocery budget was dependent on whatever was left after the bills were paid. As an adult I have a thing about milk. I have never ran out of milk in my fridge! I also have powder, shelf, and evaporated milk! I don't think SHTF is always about the end of things as we know it! I think it could be like when stores close and shipments can't come in like during covid. Bad weather that keeps shipments from arriving at stores. Remember last year I think it was when California had an area high in the hills that got so much snow they couldn't go anywhere for weeks and the national guard was called in. To me that is a SHTF situation or event. I have said it before but they always say to keep 2 weeks of food on hand and the average American household doesn't even have 1 whole week. I know this is true at my sisters house where my parents live. I am constantly requesting my mother to put stuff that is shelf stable aside and she thinks I am silly. They also grocery shop for dinner almost every day! Since we live in the Upper Peninsula we have to keep a pantry because you just never know what the weather could do.

Great meals-in-a-bag ideas! We also like the Bear Creek Soups. I love to sit outside and watch and listen to the birds sing. I also have a Hummingbird Garden that attracts butterflies too, so relaxing. Your Shepherd's Pie looked delicious! Have a Blessed week!!
