I guess you just get hiccups, sometimes with a pellet smoker

Sometimes there is just too many ashes in the fire pot, so they are covering the hot rod. Sometimes when the pellets fall out of the auger they don’t get close enough to the hot rod to ignite. The hot rod is only designed to stay on for so long.
