Ham and scalloped potatoes, ham with scrambled eggs, quiche, corn chowder. Yum
I think I need lasagna now Kate! Some utubers make lasagna soup. 💛😊🛵
I love it when you do the longer videos. I get on my treadmill and walk while I watch you 😊
Hi Kate. I enjoy your videos..thank you for doing them. Yeah when I got out of college in the late 80's it was tough…no jobs for grads..we got left behind. But…we made it work and we will make it work again. Inflation and recession …nothing new for my generation. The divide between our country…I've never seen it so bad. That is sad. I will most likely always be able to feed myself and family…but that divide…I cannot really come to a good conclusion on. We just need to be kind and helpful to each other. And keep the faith..💜
Loved this video Kate!💕👍🏻💖
Whatever the make up you put on, your complexion is like porcelain doll. I hope you show us how you cook your made from scratch dishes.
I like to cook ahead so I don't have to worry about meals. I made a few small lasagnas for my husband and I. I made one and two portion sizes as he works nights now and I work days. I like to have cooked foods in the freezer so we can just grab a meal. So easy. Thank you for sharing. I cleaned and organized while listen to you. P.S. I guarantee those lasagnas did not cost you $15 each which is what the Stoffers Frozen Lasagna is. And as I am writing this you are saying the same thing.
Yes, things were bad in 1980/82 in Canada, too. My dad had just passed away suddenly. He left us broke. Mom had a HUGE mortgage to pay and rates were in the teens. She couldn't sell because she owed more than what the house was worth. This happened to many people. Many had to declare bankruptcy. The 'good Ole days' were worse than all the doomsday drama we hear about today. We survived. You CAN survive through tough times. You just have to get your priorities straight.♥️🇨🇦
It's called anise!
I believe that sincere gratitude reveals that you’re trustworthy to be given more; from people and from God. Because truly grateful people do good things for themselves and others with what they are given.
Chunk or slice that ham and freeze some for another day after you bake it. No sense burning yourself out on it. I do that all the time and it is great – same with turkey if need be. Nice to see your video. Love me some lasagna!!!!!!
Not trying to encourage additional spending, but I think you may feel better about your grocery budget if you only use it for food from the store. Then have separate envelopes for household goods (Dawn, laundry basket), pet supplies, and eating out. That way, you can narrow down which areas are doing well and which areas need a little cutting back. I think you may find your grocery food spending is on track if you're not taking money from that envelope for things like pet meds or occasional treats out with the family. Just my 2 cents. I've been watching your content for years – love your channel and the homemaking inspiration you provide!
Kate- Esther and husband made some online comments about a well known workshop they had attended. Very shortly after that video they left social media…you can put the pieces together.
Ground fennel in tomato sauce makes it taste like Italian sweet sausage. Try 1or 2 tbs in a large pot of tomato sauce.
I wish you would write a book about your successes in life and how you able to accomplish them.I have worked with several women who have been in their late 30's and early 40's and they have given up on finding a husband and having the family they have dreamed of.Many people would benefit from the advise you could give them.
Candles from Goose Creek are great
It’s nice to see you enjoying your time in the kitchen. I know the family loves it too. I loved seeing your excitement over the 3 lasagnas. Those will come in handy when you don’t have anything planned for dinner.
Back roads are best, and Bali is a keeper, so glad you found each other.
I agree that it’s much easier to be super frugal when you have a goal. I don’t need to be frugal after living below our means most of are life so now I don’t even budget for groceries . Having said that we don’t have expensive taste and try to eat healthy.
I can’t tell you how inspirational you are to me! I’m in such a mindset right now of wanting to throw in the towel at my full time job and be a homemaker/homeschooler. Perfect time for this video to come out. ❤️
Wow, Kate, you really impressed me in this video. You inspired me. Your family is going to eat well.
We love Winco we just moved to Utah and we have one here,
Love your hair like that!
Kate , I so needed your video today …love long blogs …a series of days . Take care and thank you x
Sriracha is virtually impossible to find due to a chili pepper crop failure in Mexico. I had one extra bottle of sriracha in the pantry which I'm jealously guarding – ha!
There was a 50% reduction in mustard seed production in Canada and France, hence the high price and limited options.
Gabb phones have zero data and you can't even download apps. Meant for kids, but we use them. Totally offline, but still connected to friends and family.
I agree Renae is one of the best cooks and a super lady❤
Hi Kate. I use Tru Earth eco strips laundry detergent.. it’s great
Kate's here today, fantastic! And I adore Kate talking days 💜
I stopped and filled up yesterday and gas was $3.59 a gallon. I live in Iowa
i go by this…"The three grand essentials of happiness are: Something to do, someone to love, and something to hope for."
Kate, the licorice spice may be anise. It tastes like black licorice. I am amazed you can sit long enough with kiddos to read books and watch movies. I never could sit for 2 minutes with my sons and my grandkids are the same (and the same age as your sons). A much healthier salad dressing (packets are all chemical) is fresh lemon, olive oil, fresh crushed garlic and salt to taste. You'll never go back. You are a hoot at times 🙂
Rennae at Little Village Homestead is great. She really knows her way around a kitchen and a garden. Happy cooking!
When I make lasagna, I don't cook the lasagna noodles first. I just put them in dry. Then I pour 1/4 cup water around outside edge of dish before baking. SO easy.
Yay!!😊🌻🌻🌸🥀🌼🪷 Can’t wait to watch!!
sriracha shortage gf. no sriracha here n this town for three months now. gar went on a search and everyone said none. its cause of a severe drought and bad chili peppers. gar bought the last bottle in this whole town…over 5$ for a small bottle. i am gonna try to make our own…
my grandgirls were over today. each sat on the arm of my chair. i turned on the computer to watch one of my fave ladies. lea and elfie. a mom and daughter who make everything by their own hands. lea is the mama. she is like an old hippy. she makes dread locks to sell. so then maddie my grandgirl saw a piece of my yarn and it was frayed and purple. i tied it in her hair like a dreadlock. she loved it. we all watched this mama and daughter whose like 10 making all these beautiful things. maddie was fascinated. we loved it so much. i love all your shopping and cooking and hearing your stories Kate.
I love no cook lasagna noodles. So much easier to assemble and cook perfectly in lasagna.
Fennel?
Have you ever tried making potato salad with cauliflower? It tastes the same and it is much faster to make. And go to Walmart and buy a Kitchen Aid peeler. It is so much more comfortable and feels so much easier . It will save you alot of time. ❤
Can't believe it's the 1st time I never got the notification! Well I'll have my evening video all set here. 🤣🤣 Thank you Kate! Hope you & the family are doing well! 🍁🍂📚🍂🍁🍂📚🍂🍁
What I do with potatoes is I wash, cut them up the way I would for baking, then parboil for about 7minutes in salty water , drain, cool toss with some oil and freeze spread out on a oiled baking sheet . then put them in a freezer bag. To cook you just bake from frozen. .
Took me 3 different times to get through this wonderful video. I loved it!! If it isn't too hard, make more videos of your cooking. Garden tours are fun in spring and summer.
Be blessed!!
Yes! I live in amish country NY! Part of my nanowrimo inspo 🙂
Simply beautiful video . Thanks Kate 💞 😊 PEACE ✌
Where do people live that a thrifty month of food is $1000? That does not seem very thrifty.
Molly!! Molly!!! Oh Molly!! I just think she is the sweetest!! ❤😊
