Love this!! Also regarding the inconsistensies with the rye – couldn't it also be possible that the rye only really affected them in raw form, and women were more likely to have a bite of the raw dough to make sure the bread will come out nice?
fun fact: nobody was burned during the witch trials! and not everyone who died was a woman
Important facts about the guy who was pressed to death: the reason he refused to confess was because if he confessed his wife would lose their land and have nothing when he died. His last words were supposedly βMore Weightβ πͺπ» truly a stand up guy
Molasses is a sweet syrup from cooking down sorghum plant which is different from sugar cane.
I volunteer at a 1670s historic site and their recipes are written kind of strangely. Plus measurements tend to be things like "enough" and "an ordinary amount."
This was too good π
"We don't want your husbands. We just want to get high and dance naked in the woods!"
Emily gets me

Ayyy Josh knows how to make LSD! Huh. You think you know a guy.
It's leviOsa, not leviosaaH. π π π π
Ergot poisoning was a myth. If y'all want to learn more about the witch trials, Last Podcast On The Left did an excellent series on it!! and also fun fact Emily worked with Henry Zebrowski, one third of the LPOTL squad, on a comedy show!
As a child raised in South Carolina, my school had Harry Potter but my parents didn't allow me to read it. Now I'm a weaboo. Thanks mom
Josh saying "Callete, callate" was so adorable π₯°π but it also reminded me of when I told my mom about my friends getting a tarot card reading π€£π€£π€£π€£

Fundamental Christianity in upstate NY π
Emily has the best sense of humor! I feel like she would be a lot of fun to go out drinking with.
Min 14:44 in-between Josh and Emily there is a glitch or a presence.
You know some believe "Riding a broom" came about because of a way to administer psychedelics, so ya, her reference may be somewhat true.
There is a good episode of House that the patient has ergot poisoning!

Mythical kitchen series idea: millennials vs zoomers competition of some kind
Based on how fun Emily and josh are together, how all the actual kitcheneers are zoomers, and how well Josh did with his self imposed 15 minute time limit that one time
Who beats who in some kind of times competition? The kitcheneers working together, vs Josh with Emily being hilarious and doing her best to distract him while he makes his effort?
Emily's forensic bits are hilarious. I'm still not sure what it is, but it's certainly funny
I would love to see a spooky last meals.
Emily mentioning puppets actually do harken back to the Salem Witch Trials as some "evidence" that they used to accuse women of being witches were straw dolls thought to have been conduits of witchcraft. Last Podcast on the Left did an in-depth play-by-play of how the trials went down. And all those trials were done in the local pub.
I don't usually listen to your podcast; but I recently had a 12 hour drive, and I exclusively listened to your podcast…. My takeaway: Nobody should listen to 14 episodes a row.
Anyone else notice Josh's arm duplicate at 14:43?
Great chef with a delicious food recipe! I love you all from Kitchen Foods. π
The combo of Emily and Josh is *chefβs kiss!
