That's true about food pantries. We put together 450 bags of food at church last spring for a food drive, and only 3 cars showed up. We called the local food pantry and they came and got some of it but said no one was coming to them because of Covid. They subsequently lost their grant for 6 months as a result. Luckily our church hosts a homeless cooked dinner service and they were able to distribute the bags of food along with the hot meals but it took months.

Glad you like the lentils. High in protein. Sometimes I cook by adding some olive oil. Then I sauté sausage and eat with lentils. Will add fresh minced purple onions and fresh lime juice in lentils. Is Mr. Z doing ok. ?

Hello Glenda, my mom always told me (and all my cookery books agree) that we should never put salt in any form (eg. in broth or bouillion cubes) before the lentils are soft and properly cooked. But it seems yours were still edible, lol. I am glad that you have found something new and relatively cheap to enrich your diet. I wish you the very very very best in life. And please remember: God loves you, He will never leave you and never forsake you. Even if there are situations when you think He did. But He never does. He can see your trouble and your situation and be sure that without Him, your situation could be even worse! It may not be too good but He sees it all and will help you, I am sure. So please keep in mind that we don't see God's ways and the way He thinks and acts. We are not perfect but He is. And we, your subscribers and fans, love you too!

Good afternoon Glenda. Your lentils looked delicious and healthy. I love lentils, they cook really fast. I've put them in my soup or just season with smoked meats, and sometimes bacon. Cornbread, red onion, and air fried potatoes, just like my other beans. My neighbor goes to all the free food places and picks up a box for me. Tomorrow on Friday he will go to one and then Saturday. He gives me food out of his box he doesn't like or doesn't know how to cook. I canned some bok choy last week. Gave me a lot of fresh ginger. I love ginger tea. Check out my recent ginger tea extract youtube video to make you some fresh ginger tea. Or you can go to the Dollar Tree and buy a bottle of the dry powdered Ginger and make a tea, and here's my recipe for the dry ginger tea.
1/4 level teaspoon of dry ginger powder
1/2 teaspoon of real unpasteurized honey
1 cup of filtered hot water
    Enjoy!

Glenda, you remind me so much of my late mothers best friend Germaine. Like her, you have such a loving sweet spirit. And you're just as beautiful on the outside, too!! I'm so happy that I found your channel!! BTW I'm female and will be 62 this year. Those bladder infections can be really hard on us older folks. When my mom was alive and when she got a bladder infection, she would sometimes mildly hallucinate and just get really off kilter. I don't know why, what the connection between a UTI and mental health is, it's so weird. The assisted living home she lived at said it happens to a lot of their residents who get UTI's. So I'm wondering if that is why you've been feeling down lately. I myself think I have one right now but I keep putting off going to the doctor. Seems I have a pattern of putting off seeing the dr when I'm getting a UTI. Will I never learn!? lol I hope you are right as rain soon!!

Sorry you are under the weather. Feel better fast! When you get your cranberry juice, make sure it is only cranberry juice, NOT CRANBERRY JUICE COCKTAIL!!! the cocktail has a lot of sugar which is not good for Urinary Tract Infections! I think the Adam & Eve brand of cranberry juice is 100% cranberry juice without sugar! Even better is to get cranberry capsules (I know Puritan Pride brand vitamin company has them and I'm sure you can get them at a drug store) you can even get frozen cranberries and blend them with water and strain it and drink the juice, it will be 100% cranberry juice! God Bless!

Ya know a UTI can be causing your depression. Its sounds unlikely but it very well can do that to a person , especially as we are aging. Please keep on top of it sweetest Glenda. It is are much more serious then alot of people think and it is so so important to seek Treatment ( and usually not hard to treat at all . ) Dont mean to sound like a public service announcement just want you and everyone to take care. 💕

I went to a local market, probably you would think of it as a farmers market where they have all sorts of produce and fruit, and they had several boxes of produce that were getting old. For two dollars I got potatoes, oranges, broccoli, tomatoes, jalapeño peppers, etc. I knew I couldn’t use all so I shared with friends. The oranges were fabulous and would’ve cost way more two dollars in the supermarket. It’s about 25 miles from my home but I’m going to check them out every so often and what I can use I will donate to the food bank or friends.

I don’t think my mother ever cooked lentils either but I did when my kids were little. They called it poop soup because of its appearance, but it is tasty. I’m 10 years older than you and my problem now is just trying to find something that appeals to me. I know how to cook nutritiously but I sit and think about food all day and try to think of something that I would want to eat. Yesterday it was corn bread with cheese and jalapeño peppers in it. I know it wasn’t a balanced diet but I at least ate something. I throw my leftovers out for the crows and they all love me.

You two are beautiful. My favorite thing to make is bean soups, of all kinds. I love having frozen containers of homemade soups in the freezer. If I’m out of food I can always go to the freezer for a good meal! Very nice of you Glenda to remind people to go to the food pantries. Hope you are feeling better!

So sorry you're suffering from a UTI ! I had that problem years ago recurringly. It was when I started taking B vitamins that UTI's stopped. I quit sugar, bread, milk too, after learning these sugars create a sticky lining in the intestines that prevents B vitamins from being absorbed . This year I started making homemade sour kraut too after learning that one little forkful of sour kraut has more probiotics than a whole bottle or two of storebought probiotics. I learned it tops the list of foods containing Vitamin C. And its vitamin C is the real , complete C-Complex , unlike storebought ascorbic acid C. For a mere $5. a person can make a 6 month supply of kraut that stores in refrigerator. In refrigeration both the probiotics and the vitamin C remain viable for up to a year! Glenda! I see some krautmaking videos in your future! Yes!!

Glad you liked the lentils you received! I make a German lentil soup with a touch of vinegar that I really enjoy. Although it's not necessary, I usually soak my lentils overnight to make them more tender. They're extremely healthy & even help to reduce cholesterol. I hope you feel better soon Glenda! Not sure if it's just me but I seem to experience anxiety & depression before getting ill. Please take care of yourself and follow your doctor's orders. I pray you'll be on the road to recovery in no time! 🙏
