This recipe was modernized from one that was published in the early 1700s. You could do this in a crock pot or covered casserole dish slowly baked in an oven.

Went hunting with my nephew last week and killed a nice sized jackrabbit. Tried cooking on the grill but the meat came out really tough. Will definitely try a slow cooker next time.

One of my late grandmothers used to call rabbit “underground mutton”. She probably ate a lot of it as a kid in the Depression.

I think I know which YouTube channel you’re referring to with the 18th century cooking. They have some decent stuff on there- especially when you consider than lack of choice of spices at that time.

I love Brussel sprouts but grew up with them being half boiled to death, which is not a good look- or smell.

    Another great recipe, Dennis.

I thought you'd find the historic recipes inspiring. 🙂 I still haven't gotten around to getting an Instant Pot, but I have everything else for this recipe. Thanks, Dennis!

I don't understand the bag theory. You still have a pan to wash. A heavy cast iron over a stainless pot… The only rabbit for sale around here is 5 dollar pets. Or go to the woods. I have only had it fried in a thick gravy when I was a teenager. Used to hunt them for grandma.

Very nice adaptation. Will be on the lookout for rabbit, even though I'm sure it would be great with chicken too.
On the plastic… well most people have PEX plastic water pipes except you and I ! You may however keep my serving of evilsprouts.
On the PDFs…. honestly I don't use them. I copy the full recipe text and put it in a .txt file on my internal web server. (yours are the only ones that don't need to be 'fixed' first)
Many times there is already a recipe so your initials are appended, e.g. BBQ_Sauce_DV.txt, and those are the ones I look for first.

Very interesting video Dennis. I have cooked rabbit numerous times. I generally prepare it in my slow cooker with some chicken broth, cream, onions, garlic, mushrooms and white wine or sherry. Then at the end I thicken the cooking liquid.  It's delicious!Regarding the question in your blog about the pdf files of the recipes,  I only ever print the first page.
