Beware cheap incubators you might only get one or two to hatch
And if its only one you need to become a momy quail and its not easy
Spend the money if you really want to get into it

We also tried with the serama hens with ten eggs only one hatched but i will try again because of too many varriables with the thickness of the quail egg shells too thin the seramas break them too thick the quail will not hatch right

Thank you for the great info! I assume that it is critical to ensure that all that food actually goes into the quail. What do you do to reduce food waste? We all know how Coturnix love to rake their food into the cage where it falls to the bottom and into their droppings.
I have built PVC feeders which virtually eliminate wasted food. What do you do to cut down on or eliminate wasted food?

I have recently made a decision to raise quail. I have been looking for a source to find out how to raise quail and where to purchase them. I stumbled across this this channel, and over the past few weeks have decided that this is the go-to place for all my Quail needs. You have great videos and excellent information. I look forward to working with you in the future.

Also I fully respect everyone's personal choice however mine is to not get the "big Mac" And so I am looking at the very real possibility of being in my own Apocalypse and that is what I am prepping for these quails are really gonna help and thank you for this math it helps. If I don't make it out of this, least I'm giving it everything I can

$24 for game bird starter here and the trucks have been running really low, want to stock up but the product isn't there, found other feed stores and same problem, may order but cost is way higher, I've been thinking towards this…. I'm raising mealworms, wheat berries and fodder to supplement if needed. This may seem far off but given the times a very real question, What to do if lockdowns or the commanding potato kills supplys?

I culled my first 6 myshire quail today. Huge step towards good healthy self sufficiency. Chickens weren't working out for my situation and I eat biblical kosher (personal choice) so meat options are limited. Quail rock!!!! Thanks Zack! You got my going and even gave me the eggs. My family is and will benifit from you. Thank you myshire

Great video, ty. Another topic I would be very interested in is how to keep things going incase of grid down. I have bantams that could hopefully hatch out the quail eggs , and can create a stinky situation for fly larva , but not an option during winter months even though I'm in Florida. I also started farming worms. Anymore ideas? Also, I bought 200 eggs from you of golds&jw& jb . Forgot to tell you that all but 4 hatched plus you added extras so I definitely got my money's worth 😉 THANK YOU.

Zach I love the numbers. We have yet to get started. If I incubate there is the initial outlay of money for incubator, brooder. heat lamp, waterers, feeders, more than one cage because of egg layers and a cage for extra males. If we just order breeder sets then I only have one cage to buy with waterer and feeder. In the long run hatching eggs is certainly more cost effective but with limited finances the initial set up for the "infra structure" is a little daunting.

Can you please tell us what brand food you use? What is the protein percentage quail need to thrive? We feed all our animals soy-free, do you know of a soy free feed suitable for quail?
Thank you so much for this breakdown!!!
