Believe me it does not taste like pork, that's the most stupid comment ever. However as a substitute to meat that gives you a slightly similar texture but without the taste

Never buy jackfruit in brine. It's simple science. What happens to cabbage when you place it in brine? It becomes sweet and tart at the same time. Garlic when placed in brine becomes sweet. Jackfruit when placed in brine becomes sweet.

If you want jackfruit to absorb flavors and fool people, buy jackfruit in water. Water is neutral and will not ferment your jackfruit. But brine will. So in other words kids, don't buy jackfruit from TJ's. You need to find an Asian market. And go through the dozens of containers of jackfruit in brine and jackfruit in syrup. Then, lo and behold, you find the mother load! Jackfruit in water. Most Asian markets have two different brands. Just make sure it's jackfruit in water. I gave away my TJs crap in brine because no matter how I dressed it up or how long I soaked it in water, it tasted like fruit. This is not the case with jackfruit in water. It's like tofu. A blank slate ready for you to add flavor.

Hey Sam! I really enjoy your videos! I have a can of young green jackfruit that has been on a kitchen shelf for a while. I had a jackfruit tuna salad sandwich at an LA restaurant and thought it was worth experimenting with. Your video has renewed my enthusiasm to experiment with jackfruit! Thx!

Healthy vegans do not cook with olive oil. Only flax and cocoil can withstand high heat without turning to trans fat. Another note, jackfruit now comes packaged ready if you guys just want to try a quick taste. Pick up some at whole foods or Amazon

I want to thank you because the way you chopped up the jackfruit and then mashed it after you cooked it was genius! I dislike just shredding it with forks, so this tip was so helpful!!
