    1. I did not go Keto due to a Celebrity. I did it so I could run a marathon without carb-loading. It took me a YEAR to achieve my desired results. It works.
    2. I have and continue to lower my blood glucose & A1c.
    3. My wife went Keto to lose weight, reduce blood glucose, and fight cancer. It works.
    4. When I see “Keto Friendly” on a packaged product, I read the nutrition label & ingredients out of curiosity but, more so, humor. I have never found a “Keto Friendly” product that would allow me to be Keto.
    5. Again: the Keto Friendly label is a red flag for a product that is NOT Keto.
    6. I count total carbs. Net carb counting does not work for me.

I’m just shocked that this article was published within the past few weeks as most of the claims have been thoroughly debunked YEARS ago.

    Lazy and irresponsible “reporting”.

Associate professors are often second rate in terms of having solid knowledge of research and this Weiss seems to be a good example of second rate. A four day keto-diet? What a skill-less failure.

All diets work as long as you can stick them. KETO is a more challenging route as you are training your body to not work with carbs as well. Once you reach your goal weight, adding carbs back in must be done slowly. You just have to go with works for you. Personally, I've had more success with a higher carb, moderate protein, low fat and tracking macros.

This is deliberately dis/mis-information from most western governments. They want us all eating their gd bugs and toxic fruits and vegetables to the natural human diet. I was type 2 diabetic until I went on my keto life style of eating. I am no longer a diagnosed diabetic and lost 65 lbs. Every government is lying because big carbohydrate producers like Kellogg is buying them off.

Over 4.5 years living this lifestyle. I hate to label the way I eat as Keto or Carnivore, but I'm probably somewhere in between. I started as "Keto" at the age of 45 in December 2017 out of desperation due to a laundry list of health issues. I quickly migrated towards a Carnivore diet. I refer to my "diet" as "animal based" because 99% of what I consume comes from an animal (beef, pork, cheese, etc.).

Whatever you want to call it, this way of eating has literally saved my life. No more T2D, sleep apnea, brain fog, GERD, and so much more.

I'm not saying it's for everyone, but this is the way I plan on eating the rest of my life.

A year ago I was on insulin for type 2 diabetes. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, and high cholesterol. Well…in one year I am off insulin and my A1C is consistently 6.4-normal. I went 10 months without a RA flair up, and lost 20 lbs. I also practice intermittent fasting, 18-6. I never felt tired and fatigued when I started. I believe it was because I was so very sick. I began to feel healthy quickly. I will follow a keto diet from now on. For 30 yrs I followed doctors advice to eat many mini meals a day, cut the fat and eat whole grains. So…do your own research about your health. If you feel awful and are unhealthy do something different.

Any diabetics among the commenters who are, or were, insulin dependent type 2 diabetics? Were you able to stop taking insulin after going keto or carnivore?

Regardless of carbs I never buy processed or packaged foods especially bad are gluten free, Keto or low fat…..they are full of garbage and dangerous chemicals. Eat Keto, eat pure foods it's that simple…..no labels to read. I have type 2 friends on 4 needles a day who absolutley refuse to try keto because they aren't giving up sugar and alcohol….I wonder if they want that quoted at their funeral ??

While I agree that the article quoted is not all that good and doesn't provide much quality scientific evidence, the last bit of the video where you stated "there is no evidence for saturated fat leading to heart disease" is blatantly and verifiably false. We have mountains of data going back to the 50s with metabolic ward studies showing a direct effect of saturated fat increasing serum cholesterol, particularly LDL cholesterol which, along with Lp(a) and apoB, is the direct cause of atherosclerosis. We can then look at some of the strongest data that we have regarding LDL cholesterol and heart disease, which is genetic mendelian randomization studies. These studies show that people who are born with genetics for very low serum cholesterol, have between 80-90% less lifetime risk for heart disease compared to the typical genetic profile. So yes, we do have considerable converging lines of evidence that all say high LDL cholesterol is bad and high saturated fat consumption increases LDL.

I am not surprised, the amount of crap coming out, seems to really be from vegans and the climate crusaders who want to change diets. Some of it gets really bad.

While I have been moving away from grains, we have kept our veggies and fruits. But we planted a food forest over the lockdowns, so now we eat fruit seasonally over the 12 months (Melbourne climate for the win lol) and nearly 60% of our veggies from the garden. What I am finding is my health has been getting better the more we eat fresh meat and fresh picked foods. It's mind blowing how bad foods from the supermarket really are.

Hmm…isn't that ironic? Today's Sunday NYT crossword puzzle actually had this clue for 73 across: "Kind of high-fat diet used as an epilepsy therapy"_ _ _ _. Funny how these things tend to swirl around the news cycle at particularly strategic times…she notes, sarcastically.

First video of yours I found. Neat stuff!

Sounds like I had a reverse journey regarding keto and carnivore, compared to you. I did my research for about a year before diving in, and I did carnivore FIRST. Keto flu didn't keep me from going forward, though it did knock me out for about 2 days, but it was the cravings for breads and vegetables that got me to fall off the wagon after 2 months of consistent carnivore. I relapsed hard, and after a while, decided to do keto as my "middle ground" answer to carnivore vs Standard American Diet. With keto pizzas, keto cakes, etc, I've been solid for almost 4 years! I stopped losing weight at about 60-70lbs dropped, because I'm close to my baseline, which is 15lbs or so below what I was in my "prime" during my 20s.

It's saved my life, in terms of health, halting my diabetic progression, treating several autoimmune conditions, not to mention giving me energy for my days, rather than draining lethargy. It boils my blood listening to family and friends (let alone complete strangers) who don't look into things, and just regurgitate what they're told, warning me how dangerous my lifestyle is to me. I understand if people just don't like the taste of my ice creams, because they're not used to it, or the texture of my cakes, cause they're not used to it. I won't disagree that my food "tastes different" than what the giant franchises are pumping out. But I'd take "tastes different" over "I'm losing toes next" ANY DAY, period.

In the same sentence they say there's no long term safety data, and yet they assert experts are concerned about health risks. So on what basis do they determine there are any risks? Oh, IDK, maybe ideology?

Well, we should all understand by now that the 'truth' has not much to do with verifiable fact. Facts, after all, are racist. So whatever forwards the prescribed narrative should be reported as truth, even if it's vetifiably factually false. But if you verify facts, it proves you are evil, so few people will even attempt to do so.

Diabetic ketoacidosis is very real, very deadly, and very different from ketosis. It's horrendous how many articles conflate the two!

If you have both high ketones and high glucose, you're about to die and that doesn't surprise you because you've been in despair over your health for a decade. The keto diet quite simply cannot cause this condition under any circumstance!

When I started keto I was using “keto products”. I lost weight and was a bit fatigued. A month later I stopped eating them and then got the keto flu. It was so bad I had to take a Covid test because I felt just like I did when I had Covid. The neurological effects where horrible. I couldn’t function for like a week. Still working out the kinks though. Constant salt intake is a pain. I have to carry it in my purse in case I get a palpitation or those tingles.
