Sorry to hear about your dad, my prayers are with you and your family, I grew up making polenta with sautéed garlic in olive oil let it cool off a bit, add water salt and pepper, and the cornmeal, it is so good with the garlic taste or I love it with homemade sauce and cheese on top or cooked fresh beans, thank you for this version of it I will definitely make it this way

I actually made it last week. I put in the water and cornflour at same time and that doesn't cause any lumps. At the end I put in a lump of butter. It's so so good.
