That reminds me of a story about my grandma, mother of five and wife of a man with impulse control issues. She made big, huge batches of snickerdoodle and chocolate crackle dough and was refrigerating them overnight to set up before rolling and baking them the next day. Between all the kids and her husband’s thievery, the next morning they awoke to the smell of fresh-baked cookies. Nine of them. Not the hundred or so she’d been planning to make. Nine.

These look very similar to the popular cookie we have in Australia called a yo-yo! Usually there is custard powder added to the cookie and filled with a white icing.
Carla!! My family has the legendary PPCs in our family too (so we may be distant relatives…just maybe.) After my Nana passed away, we had to interpret and test her “recipe” over and over until it was just right. So glad the world gets to enjoy these little pieces of joy now!
This is so similar to something my grandmother made when I was little. She had different name for them though. I have no clue how she made them. Although I think she got the recipe from an Australian family that lived in our neighborhood.
Hey Carla, why the shortening in the recipe? I’m an all-butter kind of baker. Can I substitute all butter or would it make a vast difference in the cookies if I did?
Is he… is he wearing a Charlene incarnate hat??!!

They look delicious and adorable, but the Patreon photo cranked up the contrast too much and they look like peanut butter cookies.
In New Zealand those cookies (we call them biscuits) are called YoYos! But they usually have yellowly beige frosting instead.
I know and love all of your in-laws so now I must try to bake these myself.

I had cookies like this before and loved them. I believe the cookie was rolled in sugar first though and colored green
The way Carla looks so CHIC in this episode with her hair and her sweater and her nails!!!
