This is my mom’s recipe for pig feet and eggs with black vinegar. Supposedly has good health benefits when you eat this soup. This dish is popular in southern …
Hi Dan, is this the same dish that is usually given to women who have just given birth? I remember my grandma recommending it be eaten for something along the lines of the first month after birth. Are you or your mom familiar with the particular dish I'm referring to or have any other recommended dishes for new mothers?
I've begun to research taishan food, as I remember my late grandma being a great cook where unfortunately I was too young to learn to cook, but old enough to remember the good food. My wife and I are expecting our first born, and I've thought what better way to educate about Chinese culture and my family's heritage, than through food.
We make this dish at home occasionally. We use everything else except peanuts (actually I've never seen this dish with peanuts before). Also, try substituting the Pearl River Sweetened Black Vinegar with Pat Chun Sweet Black Vinegar (buy the one made in HK) from T&T or any other Chinese markets, and don't add water when cooking. The flavor will be more robust, the color will be richer, the sauce will be slightly thicker and will last much longer in the fridge than if you added water. We make a huge pot at once and it can easily last up to 3 months in the fridge. Also, before throwing the ginger in the pot, try dry-frying the ginger pieces in the wok for 5 minutes for additional aroma. It adds more flavor to the dish.
I would like to say many thanks to Dan Seto and his mom dedicated to show us the way to cook good chinese meal. I really love your cooking video clip. Thanks.

Excellent…
Your mom looks like a very nice traditional lady. She helped you make this video, which is sweet of her.
Great to hear you will be making the Pig Feet With Black Vinegar for your daughter. I have posted a video on Chicken Wing And Alcohol Soup. Just cut up chicken pieces in place of the chicken wings. You can probably find this recipe by youtube search. Otherwise, you can try finding it on my youtube channel page or in a playlist on Traditional Chinese Soups.
Thanks for your video. I am making this dish for my daughter after she delivers this month. I understand the dish is traditional for post part um diet as the ginger warms the womb following delivery. Does your mom have a recipe for chicken and wine with wood ears," guy jiu" also a post part um dish?

I also enjoy your clans visit videos, and I've been to some of the places before, like the library, etc.. Thanks for you and your family's efforts, these are very precious culture records which I can understand and feel so familiar. Good luck.
Since I did not l pay attention to learn to it when my mom cooked Hoiping cuisines when I was young in China. Then after I came oversea, I've missed the foods a lot, but had no way to know how to cook them. Now I found your channel, I felt so lucky, I can pick up the tradition again as a young generation.
For sure. Cooking pig feet longer does make it more tender and tastier. I like it the day after when the flavour really comes out. Thanks for checking out my video
This is so delicious. Especially if u cook it for ages so the pork meat falls off the bone and the sauce gets a bit thicker. Thanks for sharing 🙂

Yummy yummy in my tummy
This meal is an ABOMINATION meal. God gave us a DIETARY LAW that commands us NOT to eat PIG (swine flesh). If you believe in the BIBLE, research on what I'm saying. Peace!
Leviticus 11: [7] And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you.
[8] Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you.
I have heard that women eat this after giving birth. I think my mom has mentioned this before. But we just like eating pig feet with black vinegar once in awhile. I have even seen this dish served in a Chinese buffet restaurant in the city of Montreal in Canada. Thanks for your question and thanks for having a look at my video.
is this for women who just gave birth?
You're very welcome. My mom is very happy to make this recipe. I'll be sure to tell her you said thanks.
Thanks for your comments. I never knew how easy it is to make until I did this video with my mom. I hope you will make it for yourself. Thanks for checking out my video.
Awesome, thanks for posting this. I used to eat this at a street stall in guangzhou all the time. Can't find it after moving to vancouver so i thought i'd search the web to see if i could make it myself. Looks easy and tasty! Cheers!
Glad to hear you like pig feet and chicken feet. Thanks for checking out my videos.
Thanks for your comments and thanks for your compliments. Thanks for checking out my video.
As I stated in my previous comment, I'm so jealous that your momma is always cooking for you. However, I'm not a fan of organ meats or other various less-known animals parts using in cooking, so I'll have to pass on this one. Your mom's the best though! What good sport!
You're very welcome. I have eaten this since I was young, but I had no idea how this was made until I did this video with my mom. Thanks for your kind words and thanks for checking out my video.
My grandfather is full-blood chinese. OMG! i still remember eating these sort of yummy food back in the day. Thanks for uploading the awesome video sir. Your mom's recipe is credible amazing!! God Bless.
Some of the oldtimer Chinese in Cuba probably know how to make this dish. When I visit Cuba a few years ago, I had a hard time to find the chinatown in Havana. Someone led me to a bar where there was a Chinese bartender. Then someone led me to a Vietnamese restaurant. Finally I found the chinatown on my last day and I missed my bus to the airport. Cuba is a very beautiful place and the people are very friendly. Thanks for your comments and thanks for checking out this video.
DUDE i have to admit im not a big fan of pig feet but this looks fantastic! I am going to have to look around to see if any of our restaurants serve this cuz i sooooooooooo have to try this! OR you could always ask your mom if she is interested in a middle age cuban son she could adopt BAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!
You should try this dish sometime. It is very tasty. Thanks for your comment and thanks for checking out his video.
I do remember something about this being made when there are babies. So you say it is when babies are born. Is this also eaten when women are pregnant?
My mom always cuts here hair short during the summer. Thanks for your comment and thanks for your continued support.
