I make a pecan pie from a recipe that I got out of a Better Homes and Gardens cookbook that was probably published in the 50s. It’s absolutely heavenly, but over the years, I’ve made some changes to it. The most significant being that I removed 1/4 cup of sugar from the original recipe. You read correctly. I removed one quarter cup of sugar from this pie, and it’s still a delicious pie!

In my opinion, this is as good as any other pecan pie. There is no going up from here, only sideways into different unique types of disgusting.

I've tried a thousand pies 1,000 different ways from dozens of different places, and none of them are good

Also, just to doubly piss people off, there is no right way to pronounce pecan or any other word in English because language is both arbitrary and fluid. So long as people can still understand the meaning of your word, your pronunciation is correct.

You said pecan how I say it (I'm British) but the comments got me interested and looking it up while both are correct I think the Southern US version is the more 'authentic' pronunciation! The history of the word is super interesting. I'll definitely still pronounce it the British way though otherwise that would be weird haha. Anyway don't even know why I decided to put all this in a comment but thanks to those who mentioned it and sent me down that interesting Google hole!!
