Nice one. Here in Taiwan they have a very similar version of this which they roll up with various ingredients such as bacon, eggs, basil, cheese and a sweet n savoury sauce. Delicious

Yup, never made my own bread (yet, dont have the space) but do this with a lot of green onion in the layers and then while frying, dump a scrambled egg on it too then flip. My brother got hooked on those when he was spending time in Taiwan with his now wife.

When you sprinkled the sugar on them, that was me being transported back to my childhood – that's what my mum would do (and still does with with my son and her other grandchildren now). I personally I LOVE them plain – and I could see you did too.

Honestly, you made them absolutely perfect.

I'm embarassed to say I've never cooked my own and I just buy them frozen.

You should check out roti canai, its an indian-influenced malaysian flatbread which is very similar to paratha but just bit lighter and flakier. In my opinion as a malaysian, indian, maltese and scottish person, I think roti canai is a bit better. Its all about opinion, but you should definitely give it a try.
