Sorry for the late upload today but we decided that this would be more helpful than another recipe video. Stay healthy. Be kind. Love one another. 💕 Happy Sunday!

"…languishing, half-eaten packages of bacon in the fridge…" This reminds me of the Martha comment of 'leftover wine' from the '90's. Hahaha! I've never met the half-eaten package of bacon. Rather, if I cook and crumble a package of bacon for recipes I have to be careful to ventilate the cooking smells (1st), then clean the skillet immediately to hide the evidence (2nd), and finally disguise the cooked bacon to prevent indiscriminate snacking of said prepared bacon (3rd). I appreciate that you and Dude have made a video to help allay fears of what to cook during these crazy times of social isolation. God bless you both and your family and I pray that God will indeed, keep our world and all of us in his care safe and under His protection from this virus.

So nice Flo. Really great advice for these uncharted times. We are having such a terrible time being able to get anything really at the grocery stores here in Los Angeles. Hopefully this is quickly abated and things will return to normal with minimal loss of life (in the grand scheme of things). Be well all of you.

South Carolina schools will be closed at least until the end of the month. Our grocery store shelves are bare. The stores close early (8:00 pm) for cleaning and restocking. People have been absolutely awful, and that really surprised me.
Your video was very helpful. I keep plenty of staples on hand. I'm going to make a quick run to the store tomorrow for a few add-ons.
    Stay healthy!

Flo, do you and Dude have a dehydrator? Having that vacuum-sealer means you have a whole lot of Prepper-Pantry options. Having a dehydrator at least doubles them, in my opinion. (I know an air-fryer can be used as a dehydrator, but I don't know how.)
    So…
Having the larger-size insta-pot means you can make soups, stews, chilis, curries, etc. IN BULK QUANTITIES. (Don't ever let Dude know that he could grill bulk quantities of spam. If you value your sanity…)
The next step could be divide up that BULK into meal-size portions… vacuum-seal it and chuck them in the freezer.
I hope you have a large freezer.
If you have a dehydrator, you have another option: Divvy it up and dehydrate it. Once dry, vacuum-seal it and store it in the pantry. OR you can add oxygen-absorbers in before sealing, chuck them in 5-Gallon buckets and store them in your Prepper Pantry.
(You can also make meals, dehydrate them, vacuum-seal them and pack them for hiking, camping and travelling. Yes, you can trek the globe with your own personal pantry of home-cooked traditional Japanese foods… in places that don't have ANY.)

Thank you Flo for giving me ideas with little bit of Asian flair… it’s nice seeing spam too, I put it in my fried rice , my Sapporo rah men , really cheap , and have you ever tried Myojo Chuka rahmen even better and taste like from rahmen shop, yummy., I put veggies and 1/2 boiled eggs etc, you gave me ideas how to buy rice, we buy brown rice from Mitsuwa we like brown rice cuz we tend to eat less maybe one small scoop, white rice about 2 scoop especially with salmon fresh sashimi white rice a must for us and miso soup with spinach and tofu for dinner yummy from Costco… Thank you for sharing your ideas especially cooking

You are so right, preparedness is something that should be part of our life not an emergency response. Vagaries of weather have always encouraged us to stock a pantry.

Your recommendations are excellent, Flo, but such a long list can be a bit confusing to some viewers (like me). So in the spirit of Keeping It Simple (and expressing solidarity with Dude) here's my version. 1. SPAM. 2. Bacon. 3. Other stuff. ;^)
