From Texas, I'm watching the replay. We stocked up on propane, and drinking water. I have stocked up on pastas, rice, dry beans, and popcorn. We live in a small town and I saw a notice (in the soda aisle) that aluminum and plastic are in short supply. I canned extra beef, chicken, pork and yes turkey! I canned turkey broth and will can chicken broth soon and anything extra in my freezer that I can can up. When cooking the dry goods, use broth instead of water to cook them. Save the water for drinking and coffee.
We went to a produce market (another idea) and got Yukon potatoes and tomatoes and I got them canned up. Here's an idea: It's just me and my husband so I can food in half pints and pints. That way I don't have to worry about refrigeratoring leftovers. We have a Coleman stove and had to use it during the freeze.
Check the clearance aisles in the stores. Always a fun time, Thanks Leisa!

Texas here too – bought a Mr. Heater and buying propane. Have propane gas stove, bought light bulbs that charge in the lamp and come on when power goes off. Now have emergency radio with solar panel that works as a power station, charged up our rechargeable batteries, bought heat tape for our rain catchment pipes. Have hand warmers, new gloves, coleman oven, flashlights, extra pet and livestock feed, winterizing coop, and extra food preps, along with RX and OTC meds. Thanks for the information.

As for your question about what us Texans are doing for water, we are ranchers so our biggest issue last year was when the powers that be started the rolling blackouts our wellhead immediately froze so we were not able to water our horses, cows and chickens. That was super scary. Ponds and swimming pools were frozen beyond being able to be broken. The local town had no electricity to run registers so no ability to take cash or credit cards or even pump gas for our generators. SO we are also stocking up on gasoline for our commercial generator and also for our house size generator. Got a local electrician out to give us lessons on how to bypass the electrical box and hook our monster up. We also have water bobs and have also been storing water up in a 50 gallon tank we now have inside our bathroom for us people and also have been filling our empty soda containers thruout the year. We have a horse trailer with living quarters so we can cook on it’s propane stove but we also can utilize our fireplace and cast iron. We WILL be ready this year! Texas has done NOTHING in prep for our grid this year even though our population has absolutely EXPLODED.

Gas grill, Coleman stove, sterno stove for cooking. Little buddy heater, candles in jars, 3 oil lamps, and lamp oil. Blankets, blankets, and duvets. If I can stay in my bed during a power outage, I can stay safely warm. Hint, if you do have to get out of the bed, don't leave the covers open, to retain the warmth within your bed.

I missed MNL…TX Preparedness…..for cooking we have a gas stove & oven (thanks to lessons learned during Hurricane Rita); a camp chef 3 burner stove as well as a single burner butane stove; and a coleman oven for baking. For power we also have a generator (also thanks to Hurricane Rita); for heat if necessary, we have a Mr. Buddy Heater that keeps my little house at a good 68; we are stocked up on propane but not so much on gas for the generator (DH refuses to store gas). As for food, we are good. Water, could use some more but have enough for several days. Last nights live was great! Thanks Leisa!

A comment on the live stream just reminded me – I collected 8 glass gravy jars this past week (from working on Thanksgiving lunches for an apartment complex) so that I can move dried herbs and other dehydrated items from my glass canning jars. I will be able to clear up at least 8 jars, and I've also been buying a particular brand of pasta sauce, so that I can use those jars for dry/dried items and free up more jars as I can. Trying to remember to do things like this really makes me pay a bit more attention to purchased because I want to use as many things twice as I can. Also, I mentioned to my mom that I'm in the market for half gallon jars – just in a conversation about not being able to find things reasonably priced – and she said, "Oh my god, you should have asked me! Don't you know that by now? I have a few stored and I don't have any use for them." She took me down into a storage cellar, and I know there are AT LEAST 2 dozen half gallon jars down there – maybe more in the back corner of the shelves where I couldn't see! I'm 50 years old, and I don't know why I didn't think of asking her! 😂 She has some of everything stored around there. LOL

I woke up the other night freaking because I forgot to take the turkey out of the freezer, just to realize I didn't have one. I swear I bought 2 last year. So I texted mu husband, who was at work, freaking out. He responded with, will good thing they were handing out 20$ turkey vouchers when we clocked in last night. Just so happened out local store had a 25% off coupon in there savings app. I got a 11 lb 28$ unfrozen turkey for 0.87c. Luck was on my side.

There are lots of canning lids out now in my area. No Cal. Target had quite a few boxes of wide and reg mouth lids. I grabbed 3 of each and they had quart and pint jars. got 2 boxes of each, at Walmart yesterday and they had lids too!! grabbed 2 of each. If I go next week and there are still some there I will get some more. Didn't want take them all or too many.

Something I stock up on, is my homemade fire starters for an emergency stock up that I do every year. Take the lint from the dryers and save it up in a jar. When you get a decent amount, stuff it into an empty toilet paper. It honestly works, and for the price of an empty toilet paper roller and lint, you can start a fire for wood to cook a meal on your bbq grill. It works to get coal on fire for your grill as well.

I want to join your book club, but I don't get my SSDI until Friday. Will I still be able to join by then? Btw, for those on Medicare and have Humana, make sure to get yourself on the $100 per month OTC products. They're free and there nothing that will come out of your check. It's free medical SUPPLIES for your medical pantry.

I went to Costco on Black Friday and got 2 packages of pork loin for $8.00 off each one and 2 fresh tom turkeys for $10.00 off each. I ended paying $8.00 each for the turkeys and $12.00 each for the pork loin. Pork loin is now in pint jars for the winter, got 16 pints. Cooked one whole turkey and got 7 Quarts of turkey and broth, and 7 quarts and 7 pints of just broth. I also have 3/4 of a gallon of broth to put in the Freeze Drier tomorrow. Busy last 3 days.
