I found this 'simple foods'approach helpful when dealing with my preteen who wanted to eat vegan. We made a list of foods they already enjoyed that are vegan, without running to spend a bunch of money on things that they may or may not like.

I use cashews and make all kinds of cheese sauces and creamy sauces like Alfredo. I’m vegan and I didn’t eliminate the creamy, I just found a way to make dairy free creamy.

Don't buy gluten free, buy cheap Mexican and Asian food!!! Stirfry with rice, Mong been noodle/wraps from the Asian store are just like the expensive alternatives, use Corn tortilla or skip and just eat without that stuff. More people have issues with corn and I avoid rice and corn for my waste line. Simply try more of a high fat, low carb diet. Some of the best gluten free alternatives are simply not buying ANY alternatives. Things like pot roasts or corned beef and cabbage are already gluten free. You don't need to make a breakfast burrito roll up, just have double the filling or the same amount over a frozen hashbrown. Love PB & J's? How about having that PB & J frozen as a treat without bread or placing it on a banana or apple circles. Love Lansana? Try turkey breast for noodles or Zucchini noodles (pat dry) are amazing and you get a veggie or extra protein! Love spaghetti? Try spaghetti squash for about the same cost and added nutrients!!! Love crispy fried chicken or fish? Use pork rinds! Butter and goat cheese is typically fine with a dairy allergy, especially clarified butter like ghee, if not use avocado oil hot, olive oil cold for salad dressing/mayo, or buy may, most is dairy free, so is avocado. Avocado works as a great dip or spread. Coconut oil makes popcorn taste like the movies, coconut oil and nuts also make a great pie crust for Easter. Some of the best gluten free cookies are made with nut flour or butter. Coconut flour makes a great mug bread. Hot cocoa is simply cocoa power, sugar/stevia, and a nut milk (cheapest to make on your own, like 50 cents a quart, but then you need a GREAT blender like a Vitamix with pre-sets). I like cashew milk as it's creamy. There are also lots of supper food grain free granolas you can make or buy for cereal or honey nut cheerios and chex are gluten free if you don't mind the carbs.

Has your family tried raw milk?? It really is a whole different product and many people can handle it because it has enzymes that conventional milk does not

My mom did that with me with my vegetables and now I can’t stand most of them. I can eat raw carrots, cucumbers and stuff like that but cooked vegetables I can’t stand, except for corn and green beans

Sometimes at frozen yogurt places they will have fruit sorbets in separate machines that are dairy free, we also have an ice cream chain nearby that serves slushies and popsicles that are dairy free (now also vegan ice cream bars!). We are dairy and soy free with picky littles.. We do tacos, spaghetti, meatloaf, sausage roasted with vegetables on a sheet pan, baked chicken, breakfast for dinner (if that includes pancakes or waffles we use almond or oat milk), ham, pork chops (sometimes using Shake& Bake seasoning), grilled foods are great too. I serve fruit and whatever vegetables I know they'll eat- basically just carrots, broccoli, potatoes and cucumbers- and ask for a polite bite of any other vegetables/sides.

You would hate trying to cook for me. I am allergic to dairy, soy (and all beans in the soy family like lima beans, pintos, white cannellini beans, most legumes actually), citrus, bananas, peanuts, and I can't process any meat protein (think beef, chicken, pork etc.). I am gluten sensitive, but not fully allergic. I am a joy to cook for. Luckily I know how to cook well for myself.

Just know that dairy and gluten as most processed foods are terrible for the gut for all humans and it’s only a matter of time before health problems arise. I am dairy free/gluten free and have been. It’s difficult at first but becomes part everyday lifestyle. I have to cook every meal basically from scratch but I appreciate the process and try new recipes all the time. Blessings

lucky for all of us- now days non dairy foods replacements and things are pretty much main stream so many milk substitutes non-dairy– however– depending on their symptoms from dairy people often have to give up most cheeses ice cream cottage cheese and many things that are ingredients in main dishes and side dishes– YOU CAN DO IT-–WE ALL HAVE TO MAKE ADJUSTMENTS SOMETIMES aND OTHER TIMES the recipes can be made and a portion of it is removed for the persons affected by the food sensitvity and the remainder can go with the recipe as written-

My girls' dr explained to me that lactose intolerant it's something you're born with, like it cant happen later, its from birth… it is your gut lacking the ability to break it down… but my siblings and I became intolerant to the fat in milk, which can happen later in life or at anytime. 🙂 i have found that if i drink 2% or less i rarely have trouble. My stomach gets all cramped up and so painful (in the restroom a long time lol😆), over cheese, ice cream, and anything milk related if it has whole milk or cream. All five of us kids took after my dad in tht area 😬.

I am lactose tolerance only to cow milk.

Only reason I know because I lived abroad for a year and drank milk (bison and goat milk, to be precise) and no upset stomach. Another thing is that I have no problem with dairy byproducts (i.e. yogurt or cheese).

We have lots of food preferences in our house. I don’t mind too much but it does mean I need more help with dishes. For example when I make taco soup…I don’t do meat, husband likes his all the way, one child no veggies, and one child no spice! 😆

Honestly we make a cheese sauce from potatoes, carrots, nutritional yeast, salt and vinegar. We use it as queso and on nachos, tacos, enchiladas, broccoli rice casserole, etc. It is so delicious

All the dairy you can't eat .has a substitution in plant-based. this is what my family uses. and you can't tell the difference if you get the right brand. So you can still make your own meals. just substitute the cheese and or milk with plant-based.
