Raisins. But not just any raisins: blackened raisins. The phrase immediately caught Kristen’s eye as she flipped through Meera Sodha’s cookbook “Fresh India.
this music is very weirdly fit into this video lol
has anyone tried this with vegan yogurt and milk?
This looks yummy.
Regarding protein, I’m coming to agree with our Whole Food Plant Based friends: we are sold a bill of goods about the “need” for animal protein in our diets. There’s probably 8 grams or so of protein in the cauliflower and onions in the serving you arranged of this dish.
Looks delicious and I saved to make later. But give this person a bigger pan!!
Whoever styled the set did a bang up job. I love the combo of dusky pink and purple with yellow!
I always keep a hand of ginger in my freezer so that if I need chopped or grated it is soooo fast. If you want a fast, tasty cheese noodle try Jeff Smith's Lazy Polish dumplings…done in the Cuisanart it is ready in about 5 min….patted out with a good amt of AP flour, it cooks in a couple min. The only change I do is to add onion powder to the dough! I have served it to company with raves! Just put carmellized onions over it. I have been making traditional cheese filled dumplings for 50 yr and this gives them a run for their money and about three hours less work to feed a crowd.. 😍😂
Looks great. Will try it. Would have appreciated more info/tips on how to blacken the raisins. It's such an uncommon addition plus they are practically black to begin with.
Absolutely delicious and I just love Kirsten she is a real genuine foodie not just following the trends and her videos are always interesting.

While toasting the raisins and almonds, what we usually do is add a bit of well salted butter after the initial char is achieved. You can also add another dimension of flavour by adding curry leaves to this tempered garnish.
This looks absolutely delicious, I want to go home and cook right away! Thank you for another wonderful video, Kristen is so sweet and the videos are always relaxed and soothing. I love it!
As for recipe tips, I rather have a request: cooking with only pantry items – what to make when you haven't had the time to go shopping for groceries? We always turn to pasta with a sauce of canned tomato, tuna and capers/olives. Not everyone's favourite (puttanesca'y), but so quick and flavourful. I'd love to see more dishes like that!
This recipe looks amazing! You asked for go-to, easy dinner recipes, here is one that I make at least once a week. Basically, it is a ragu of sorts for pasta. I rough chop 1 large onion, 3 or 4 medium zucchini, get those lightly caramelized in a little olive oil and butter in a large skillet. Add one box of chopped campari tomatoes. Season with salt, pepper, basil. Add 1 or 2 teaspoons of minced garlic. Add one package of D'Artagnon lamb Merguez sausage, removed from casings and crumbled. Add 2 cups of chicken broth. Simmer for about 20 min. Serve over one box of cooked pasta of your choice. Or, start with the basic recipe in a large soup pot, add sliced carrots, kale, spinach, or swiss chard, a can of chickpeas or other beans. Add more chicken stock to create a very hearty soup. Not a precise recipe by any means, but I am just a home cook.
Ha ha! The music at 6:25 is so out of place and yet so awesome! Love how the auto ducking makes it sound like you guys cranked it up especially loud for the yogurt. And then, after the cut for the cauliflower to finish, straight into what sounds like music from an ‘80s adult film. So funny. Definitely need to try this recipe, too!
Yes for more vegetarian mains! Thus series has become one of my favorites, partially due to Kristen's soothing voice 🙂
Just an fyi…vegetables have protein. People generally get enough protein regardless of their dietary choices.
Thanks for sharing this! Quick recipe rec: instant pot pasta. Alexandra Stafford has a really easy pasta with a red meat sauce that she makes in the instant pot. Recipe is on her blog and IG stories. I love her recipes because they're always quick and easy.
I’m going to try this soon. Btw I use my crockpot for making easy delicious meals. I’ve made my chicken broth, lentil soups , even a Puerto Rican favorite PERNIL in my crockpot pot.
This will be my first foray into Indian food. You had me at blackened raisins!
Smitten Kitchen’s Shakshuka is the most repeated recipe in my kitchen! It’s so easy for a quick weeknight meal.
Woah… are you trying to trigger people's motion sickness? Dial back on the movement of the camera folks.
There’s something so calming about these videos!!
You need to look into Korean stewed dishes. You can use pressure cookers or slow cookers for those with tougher cuts of meat. Very easy tho.
This looks delightful!! Looking forward trying it out. The blackened raisins really have me intrigued 🤔
Thanks, dinner tomorrow sorted 😊 might have to hold back on the cayenne, not sure my 7 year old will manage that!
