yes, we need to manage our freezer contents because when we stock up we save money. But if we are throwing away old freezer burned food, what have we saved?

One of my tricks with my freezers is I get the cheap metal wire baskets from Dollar Tree. I put like frozen foods in each basket. So when I open the door, I am not digging thru bags and packages, I am grabbing a basket of food instead. This makes it much easier to find what I need or find what I forgot. No food left behind! And I also rotate food from my downstairs deep freezer to my upstairs freezer. I keep a couple extra wire baskets next to the downstairs freezer to put food in that needs used to take upstairs. I put a sticky note on the fridge door of what I brought upstairs that I need to use in my meals plans. This also helps save space for freezer meals! Happy New Year everyone!🎉

This is what I am doing now. So far 2024. Leftover potato soup, grilled cheese with ham and tonight chicken patty sandwiches with sweet potato fries. Tomorrow possibly tomato basil soup. (I can't believe how many frozen quart bags of tomatoes I have) 🙀
I was out of tomato sauce one time when making chili, but I did have enchilada sauce so I used that in place. I swear that was the best chilli I've ever made!
Happy New Year. Great impromptu recipes! And love the ham bone. It's like the best part of buying a ham. Mine go into the crockpot overnight with water and bay leaf and by morning it's got the whole house smelling incredible, and a ham broth and meat just waiting for the next step (usually potato, bean or split pea soup). Keep up the great ideas and time to go dig in the back of the freezer!!!

Another way to speed up the ice melting is to put a pot of boiling water in there.
