I watched a few episodes of Walking Dead. My take on it is the show desensitized the viewer to accepting that some humans deserve to be murdered. No trial, just kill 'em. Novella Carpenter is inspiring!

Kate, your yard looks so foresty. How cool does it get in your neck of the woods come winter? Hope your bathroom is completed quickly, my husband just finished up our bathroom renovation, it only took 3 years! Now he will start the kids bathroom , I'm hoping it's done before they all leave home.

I've not watched Jamerrill yet, but I do enjoy watching See Mindy Mom (she does a LOT of crockpot and pantry clean out videos), and Christine (Frugal Fit Mom). I also enjoy watching Becky from Acre Homestead.

Longtime sub here. The best part of your channel is how you teach us to live a rich life without money. I listen to your long videos doing errands or cleaning. Such practical advice and not fear mongering but more from a place of contentment. You have taught us over the years that a rich life has nothing to do with money. So grateful for you.

Every time you cook, double or triple the recipe. After a week or two, youโ€™d have a months worth of meals in the freezer. Keep it up every time you cook something fresh.

To make a sliceable sandwich loaf you need bread flourโ€ฆabout half of your total flour. Bread flour has a slightly higher amount of gluten which holds the bread together for slicing.

. I've been watching Jamerrill for almost 7 years now . (She pronounces her name 'Jay-merrill'๐Ÿ˜Š). She recently had a miscarriage and is utilizing the big box stores as she walks through this time of loss. When she goes to Sharp Shopper, all that food that is prepackaged etc, she distributes to her children over a 4-6 week period. In her older vlogs, she was feeding 7 people on a $150.00 MONTHLY budget. She's amazing. โค

Hi again. Long videos make for good walks. There is an old vegetarian cookbook that I absolutely love, Laurels Kitchen. There is an updated version, The New Laurels Kitchen. Very hippie, but it's such a great book.

I love Jamerrill too. But something to knowโ€ฆshe has and has had several businesses and she has a staff, and her mother and husband help with the children while sheโ€™s working. This is not to take away from her success but she explains how she does everything.

We had a major house fire in March… We lost everything. The house is now done. I just went and spent about half of the money that the insurance company estimated we had in food in our house.

My pantry is presently pretty stocked. When we replace our freezer, I will be filling that, and then, going back and adding to the pantry with our extra funds.

I am so excited to finally use my pantry again! I am also so excited to have a freshly redone food stock that will enable limited grocery shopping.

We have been trying to cut back on food waste at our home as well. Grocery prices are out of this world!!! Have you ever frozen coffee creamer? I never seem to get through an entire bottle before it goes bad. I was thinking of freezing it in ice cube trays and just popping a cube in my coffee when I want some.

TRY THREE RIVERS homestead for similar content as Jamerill. Jessica is more laid back with eight children, homeschooling, gardening, shopping azure etc. She does a lot more canning than Jamerill. One of her children has food allergies so she uses no butter, milk, nuts?, i canโ€™t remember all of it. She is just a fabulous mother!

That looks like a great book! I'll have to look for it at the library. Right now I'm reading Letters of a Woman Homesteader by Elinore Pruitt Stewart who homesteaded in Wyoming with her young daughter after losing her husband. Her strength, independence and ingenuity blows my mind. It's so good!

Jamerrill has a lot of great info and ideas. I think just about everyone gets burnt out with what they do sometimes, I know I do. Housewife is one of the more important jobs in a family, you are the heart of the home. I am amazed at how people are able to manage it all, let alone work outside the home, when they do. Every role we play is important. I like making mixes too.

Simple Farmhouse Life is fabulous and she actually is holding "A year without the grocery store" in her hand on her latest video. I just LOVE HER. Her sourdough for beginners video is what started my sourdough journey and I never looked back to store bought again ๐Ÿ˜‚

We used to always freeze our maters whole too. We would cut the top/core out first- learned this was easier when not frozen. If you hold the tomatoes under hot water for a few mins the skins will slip off just like if you scalded them. I used to can garden produce but over the years moved more and more to freezing. It was just a preference. Some canned veggies were ick to me- corn, carrots were just mush. We ended up liking fresh frozen more. Knock on wood but in my area we' very never lost food to power outages. I have a small upright freezer and a kitchen side by side. Tomatoes I freeze whole about 6 in a bag works for a pot of chili or spaghetti. I run them under water, peel them, then put them in a pot frozen with a snidge of water. They melt down into tomato sauce pretty quick then I just season how I need. Tomatoes would be about the only thing I'd can now….maybe jams and jelly.
