Thought this was only a Hawaii thing. Ate this all the time growing up.
10+ bowls for just a simple fried egg over rice
i can't believe I just watch a cooking tutorial on eggs, soy sauce, and rice. This is the first thing my mom taught me how to make…. when i was 7.
Whoa ! The legendary 煎蛋豉油!
Can you keep the soy sauce for later use?
Lucas, what is the shelf life of this cooked soy sauce
Made a modified version of the soy sauce but omg this was the best must comforting thing I have ever ate!!!!! 😊
Goldthread: Please stop with the jump cuts.
Wow, come to think of it, I have never thought of "cooking" soy sauce alone with aromatics. Will definitely try this.
Delicious
So basically….telur goreng masak kicap in Malaysia 🙂 Love it!
Not as good as my rice over fried egg recipe.
What u really need:
Aromatics, soya sauce, eggs, rice, 20 small bowls, a strainer.
Love Lucas Sin and the way he teaches the how and why of cooking the dishes he presents. That said, the editing of this video does a great disservice to the top notch content. Cheap graphics and sound effects every 10 seconds adds nothing but unwanted and unfunny distractions to what the viewer is focused on. Less is more.
I always called it 荷包蛋撈飯🤷
I’d eat rice with shallot oil/fried shallots + fried egg and just regular soy sauce. Still yum 😉
No doubt the infused soy sauce is good too tho
My grandmother used to make us, her grandchildren, fried egg sandwiches, a crispy runny yolk between two slices of wonder-bread toasted in the leftover peanut oil. Being on welfare at the time, even Chinese sausages were saved for occasions rather than being amongst the daily staples. It was a simple time. A safer time.
Yums! Such a childhood dish.. will definitely make the sauce from scratch. Thanks!
Lovely
Love Lucas, love the video for the most part…. but the drooling emoji with the moaning and the jump cuts took a lot away from the video imo.
I didn't know that! Good lo out! I'm on it!
First egg was definitely burnt lul
Sunny side up eggs w Maggie.
Such a simple dish. Amazing technique! Every single component of the dish perfectly executed.
For this recipe I use bacon grease for extra flavor
Lucas in Hong Kong is my favorite
We just did fried egg over rice with the Maggi for quickie breakfast or at dinner. I'll have to try it with all the aromatics.
I lived in china for a decade, that's definitely a Thai way of eating eggs
As a kid I've always found the 豉油 part to be quiet overpowering and I prefer to simply have egg over rice. But as an adult, this is definitely what I go to if I get the munchies at night
My first ever dish I cooked
Lucas is the king 🙌
Welcome home to HK Chef Lucas
Too many jump cuts, editing makes me dizzy
Growing up in Indonesia, I remember we had a similar dish. But we use kecap manis (sweet soy sauce) instead. Very nice.
