Thank you for this recipe. But I was wondering what was in the plastic bottle that said corn something or other. Was it a corn flavoring to give the masa more of a corn flavor?

So, I finally made these…took me all day! I don’t like too much spice, so I took out a couple of the spicer chiles, and added in a large one of the milder ones. The pork mixture turned out great! My husks were small pieces, which made it hard to wrap them, and some came open when steaming. I wasn’t too fond of the texture, but after putting them in the air fryer and crisping them up some, they were amazing! Next time I’ll make the meat mixture the day before so it’ll go quicker! 💖

I plan to make tamales with this masa recipe but with a different protien. You say you are making a "big" batch of tamales and to cut the recipe in half if not making a big batch. But what is a big batch? How many tamales would that be?

I just made these, took me all day and my corn husks didn't have many larger ones in the package, so some were really small, and some larger, and not sure if they cooked long enough. I'd never made the sauce from scratch, but it turned out great! I do like them browned up with a little salsa, better than right out of the husk. I made way too much meat mixture, so hubs will have tacos for a long time, as I froze it in serving sizes!

Thank you for sharing your recipe. I can't wait to try it. My favorite tamale is the sweet one. I've seen it made with raisins and I've seen it made with pineapple.

Just like real tamales, this is ALOT of work! How I wish I could just go to a place and buy them hot and ready to eat! Do you think I could make pupusas with this dough, too?
