Sir, 'eating as much fat as you want to' is NOT a principle of the Ketogenic diet. The ratio of fat/protein /carb is 70/25/5%, calorie level is determined by RMR and activity level.

This month marks 3 years carnivore for me. I originally did it to combat severe eczema/psoriasis , which it did , but the weight loss and countless other unforeseen benefits were nothing short of amazing. I have no doubt there are millions of thriving vegans worldwide, but there are other viable options as well. Do your research and draw your own conclusions. Sugar is poison.

I am carnivore since the end of 2020 because i am trying to reverse my insulin resistance. Been t2 for over 20 years and my a1c of 6.7 from 14 when i started has never been this low but i know i still have work to do.
Any layman info would be helpful or even a direction for me to relay to my PCP

I'm rather confused… I watched the podcast with Judy Cho yesterday and thought there was an indication that protein should be the priority. Have I misunderstood that? I'll watch it again. I've been keto/ketovore and now carnivore for 3 years and am in a 2 year stall after losing 70 lbs the first year. There is nothing I can do to lose the additional 35-40 lbs that will break this stall. I am now following PSMF for 3 days/week out of desperation.

Why are my ketone levels so low 0.1-0.5 even after a 16/18 HR fast & less than 20 Total g's of carbs/day???
I'm just sticking with 99% carnivore. Still eat dill pickles and avocado and on rare occasions I'll eat a tomato. I'll pass on the vegetables though. Too easy to go off track for me.
Focus on nutrient rich foods that minimize incidental carbs?

If one is going to consume carbs, the most ideal time is after resistance training. This is bc the carbs are more readily partitioned to the muscle and not the fat cell.
Carbs are activity dependent.
"zero sugar" drinks with artificial sweeteners are still garbage that should not be consumed
I don't agree with the argument of zero carbs. I eat HFLC, but I don't bash my head against the wall if I have some passion fruit with my full fat yogurt, maybe one a week. Incidentals are a given, so you never going to reach zero carbs. The same goes for the occasional slice of toasted sourdough toast and avocado pear. So I don't deliberately avoid carbs. I do not take sugar, that's a poison. My blood worx great, HbA1c 4.9, HDL is 2.0 mmol/l (77 mg/dl), Trigs 0.79 mmol/l (70 mg/dl).
I've found maintaining weight on a keto/meat based diet tricky. I started for more health reasons not weight lose, to see if it would help with inflammation from sports injuries and general wear and tear from working out over the years, and also a bit of curiousity. It has definitely worked the pains and problems I have are either gone or have improved 90%. The only problem is I am gradually losing weight. I've went from a already lean 91kg to around 84/85kg and still going down slowly but steadily. It has got me wondering if this way of eating is maintainable over the long haul for someone like myself that has never struggled with weight??
Thank you Dr Cywes. Just the shot in the arm I needed today. I went to a church event last night where there were snack foods. I had just finished my lettuce wrapped bacon cheese burger with Mayo at home ā So satisfying that the snack food didnāt even look enticing. Amazing to not have cravings with a strong emotional support system in place. Just grabbed a bottled water. And my day at work had been a 10 on the stress scale!

Most mayo is made with cheap oil and has added sugar or corn syrup. Read the label! Also an egg has 1 gram of carbs. Milk also has carbs.

When you say 60-70% fat are you including fat naturally in meat and eggs or just added fat – butter etc.

Addiction management is always hard to achieve for me at 100% level. From time to time I ha been giving the permission and forgiveness of eating carbs. I felt horrible the day before however, I kept doing that from time to time. Abstinence is key for me. I hope I can totally Ā āsocial distanceā from carbs forever and ever. The more I stay carnivore, the easier it becomes. Iām working on my carb addition

What are your thoughts on adding nuts? I have been ketovore for a while but struggled with hunger so I started adding nuts a few weeks ago and it has definitely helped with hunger. Unfortunately, it has increased headaches.

How can corpulent people claim they are in ketosis for years, yet they are still big? Theoretically, it doesnāt make sense. Being in ketosis means effectively burning your own fat stores while fasting…which would eventually lead to weight loss. Unless they are overeating each day, which would cancel out any positive effects of ketosis.
