Where did you get that cool bowl? It's dandy and I would like the same kind. Sort of a cross between a cake pan and a bowl. Perfect for serving this dish.

Made this tonight. Was super excited to find the curry blocks at my local grocery while shopping. Had on-bone thighs on hand and no peas. Never had Japanese curry before, always wanted to try it. I am in HEAVEN! I'll be making this at least once every other week for the husband and, who also adores it. 🥰

I'm 54 and I and my wife earn $170,000 bi- weekly returns from our digital assets portfolio but we are VERY worried about our future because of the gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings up high with the cost of living into the stratosphere, we are finding it impossible to retire. We can get by, but cant seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.

You even used Ghee , Ginger|-garlic paste, Turmeric and Garamond Masala powder. Thanks a ton for barely mentioning INDIA anywhere, the place that East Asians are basing a lot of their new cuisines from, including the Dalgona coffee, which is also ours. And the audacity to mention Brits and grant them credit for stealing our culture and presenting it as theirs…that’s just too much. Their usage of “blocks and “rouxes ” is a downgrade of the original dish, they couldn’t figure out how the sauce was thickened and so they used cheap fillers.
Also, FYI, Indians regularly use potatoes, peas and carrots in our curries, using them doesn’t make a dish “Western”! Your rear-smooching of the west may originate from your culture being unable to thwart their colonialism ad hence your unmerited reverence towards your white savior but Indians fought and successfully kicked out the colonial powers and have proudly retained the ownership of our own cultural legacy, your welcome World.

Unsubscribing, coz if you misrepresented our history this much, then you must be doing it to other foreign cultures as well.

I make japanese curry a lot for me and my gf, but in my city the curry cubes are veery expensive, so I use powder… How did I not think about making a rue ever with the powder and flower… I've always used a corn starch slurry to thicken it… Making a rue seems more… Natural!

as an indian.. this curry is kinda disgusting, if you like it then you like it; but it's what dominos pasta or spaghetti and ketchup is to italians

This curry is very similar to the curry i eat in south India, with one difference. South Indian curries use lentil instead of flour roux. And this curry is very versatile and tastes different with different vegetables and meat. Didn't know the Japanese connection

Dang, Kenji, I shouldn't have watched this right before bedtime. My stomach is rumbling now, reminding me I have part of a bag of S&B curry in my fridge right now. Definitely not as good as yours, lol, but I think I'll leave out the raisins.
