    My favorite way to tenderize Tough cuts of beef like Chuck roast is to marinate the meat overnight in some canned Pineapple juice. I swear that the meat will not come out tasting anything like pineapple and you won't even know other than the meat is super tender. I rub the roast with some kosher salt before placing it in the pineapple juice and let it sit in the fridge overnight or If you don't have the time to wait overnight a few hours should be OK. Give it a try you'll see it's awesome
