Really interesting question. I've never heard anyone say to not eat/use the liquid from canned foods. In fact, I'm almost certain I never toss it out lol. I'm making chili tomorrow and we always use the entire can of beans (juice included). I feel like you'd lose a lot of flavor and thickening power, for lack of a better word, if you threw out the liquid or rinsed the beans.

When I was a kid, I used to drink the bean juice, carrot juice, any kind of juice from the can. My only problem today after 81 years is the salt content. I eat canned green beans right out of the can as a snack at night to replace carb loaded goodies. Love your channel. My overall favorite is the one about rice!!! OMG, where do you get this stuff?

Actually, the farm bill stuff is more tied to the natural levels of THC and CBD in the plant that it is derived from, and delta-8 and delta-10 THC is naturally occurring, though some is synthetic and things like delta-8 flower are CBD flower sprayed with extracted delta-8. You can actually have hemp derived delta-9 products, at least in some states including TN. I'm in the other end of TN but I can buy delta-9 brownies at my farmers market.

There are also more synthetic versions than delta-8 or delta-10 that are not naturally occurring, such as THC-O

When it comes to canned fruit, if they didn't add some sugar to the water then the fruit would come out half as sweet as when it went into the can. Maybe you're into bland fruit or maybe they add too much sugar but still, food for thought so to speak

Before you mentioned it, I was thinking of cannabis when you talked about a doctor prescribing steroids under guise. I live in San Diego, Ca. I remember the day I turned 18 I went to a "clinic" and was prescribed medicinal Marijuana because I have a history of back pain. It was ridiculously easy and definitely not legit, but technically not against the law. When I went back a year later to renew my medi-card, the office had been closed down lol. This was before it became legal for recreational use.

I would say that 12000 francs in 1809 would be like 70 000 euros in today's world. It was the yearly salary of someone with high responsibilities in a ministry.
But he could have made much more by patenting and chose not to do so

This was an fantastic one! I love the section about the destigmatization on substances, such as steroids or cannabis, and how teaching people ways to use a substances safely, if they so desire to use them, does way less damage than criminalizing or another form of punishment. I recently wrote a short paper on the harmful stigmatization of cannabis for my sociology class, and I touched on a lot of the points you mentioned as well, so that was very cool to see.

Most canned foods here in Canada especially chickpeas are filled EDTA. If it was aquafaba from your own soaked beans that would be one thing. EDTA isn't something that you genuinely want to consume or put into your 'vegan' baked goods.

Such thing as canned sardines with lemon seems to exist. But i (spaniard) can't recall ever seen that in a supermarket. If you want an slight acidic touch, "escabeche"(olive+vinegar marinade) is much more common.
Either way: Throwing away the canned sardines liquid, is an abhorrent crime i have no words to describe.

"I don't think you should use steroids to cheat at sports." Man, look into the ADCC Competitors who compete in Brazilian Jui Jitsu. The top guys are all very clearly juicing. It's to the point where you'd HAVE to do it, in order to compete.

Also, just wanted to say that I enjoyed this episode. You don't generally make political comments, but some that you have I tend to not agree with. I'm still around though because I thoroughly enjoy the rest of your content. Anywho, on this episode I very much agreed with pretty much all the points you made regarding criminal justice reform, discouraging drug use while also accepting that people will generally do what people do, and we SHOULD also have a focus on making sure they're done as safely as possible etc.

    Keep up the good work.

22:34 rinsing away bean liquid is recommended for people with IBS that follow a low FODMAP (fermentable sugars) diet, and want to reintroduce foods like chickpeas and beans, so you are right!

I understand your desire to recognize the work that bodybuilders put into their activities, however I feel that enabling the abuse of these drugs is very problematic. The argument that allowing someone to harm themselves is the more moral choice because you are permitting them to exercise free will is an argument on shaky ethical ground. I would encourage you to consider the additional ramifications such as the changes in mental health which may result in domestic violence. Additionally, what are the stresses on the health care system. Are the costs to the individuals and society worth the pursuit of such a shallow hobby?

28:30 even drug tested competitions have steroids in them. They are just varients for which detection hasn't been invented yet. The channel More Plates More Dates has many informational videos about this particular topic and why competing in "drug tested" federations doesn't mean you dont use drug, because you may have used them during 11 months and not during that 1 month you are competing (this is more common in bodybuilding but works for other sports as well)

8:05 saying there is no vitamin C is just plain incorrect. If that were so the innuit would have died off thousands of years ago. The thing is, carbs compete for the same receptors as vitamin C, so when people eat a diet low in carbs their requirement for vitamin C decreases immensely.
