You should never pull on the cord. Grab the base of the plug to remove it from the outlet. Eventually you will damage the wires inside by doing that.

Thanks for the dog bowl hint. I just bought a 3QT Duo and I haven't been able to find anything small enough that leaves room around its edges and is still is deep enough to make a couple services of rice.

I can completely understand that you shouldn’t buy things just for a McDougall recipe! As an idea, maybe you could show what you make for one of your meals. All of us get to the point of eating what you have, and that could also be very helpful. 🙂
For example, using these pantry/frozen ingredients, showing what you make. I’m on some budgeting groups, and lots of people are very interested in this. They aren’t very useful to me since they aren’t vegan!

If you use shorter bowls, you might be able to do pot in a pot in a pot. Use the shorter trivet in between the two bowls. It might work. For sure in the 6 quart pot.
Dollar tree sometimes has the dog bowls.
